are these KRK meme speakers good?

I literally have no understanding of what makes a good amp either, I just know that my current setup isn't great sounding

Skrillex made Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites on a shitty speaker system in an abandoned warehouse, and one of his monitors was broken allegedly. He then made 8 million dollars. You don't need a dope setup to create great music. Anybody who tells you otherwise or that gear is that important has lost the point.
>>
But anyway yeah KRKs are very good and decently priced.
>>
>>60947770
Oh I'm not producing this is just for listening. I do see the art in listening to a "bad " mix sometimes but in general I could do with a wider range of sound

>>60947797
Thanks - what sort of price range amp should I look at getting to not waste them?

The rokit 5 are self power you dumb cunt, that could be found out in about 5 minutes of research

Don't know about the rokit 5s, but KRK is in general an iffy brand. Pic related is an example of a very questionable frequency response curve on a purportedly "neutral" KRK product. If it were my money I'd avoid a company that thinks it's okay to sell that altogether. Do a lot more research before you buy, and consider a passive speaker + amplifier setup in addition to just studio monitors
>>
Maybe out of your price range, but Vanatoo transparent one are what I'm getting as soon as I have the money to sink in them.

The Rokit range are active, so they have amps built in. You need an audio interface to run them, the one pictured will do.

PS: get the Rokit 6's if you can instead of the 5's, they have a much better low end.

>>60948517
what's the point of using XLR when the monitor has an RCA cable? I've not noticed noise in the past

No.

KRK Rokits don't have flat frequency response at all. The JBLs are much better designed and more neutral sounding.

And the don't get much love, but Behringer Truth B3031A are actually pretty good too.

God, what a fucking idiot. You know that story is probably bullshit, right? And totally irrelevant anyway; it's always better to accurately hear what you're doing. That doesn't mean it's suddenly "about the gear".
>>
>>60948394
The KRK VXT series is okay.

>>60948682
They're standard low end home studio gear.

OK guys I'm still a cunt and I don't understand things

Can I just adapt my RCA output with a chunk of metal like pic or do I need to balance it with >>60948517
>>
>>60949687
lol I don't mean RCA, just an audio jack
>>
>>60949687
You mean use your computer's onboard sound? You can connect it straight to the computer, and the sound is typically okay-ish. A dedicated audio interface might sound better but it's generally more useful if you're recording shit.
>>
>>60949595
*sigh*
>>
>>60947617
>>60948517
Yo I have a set of 6's and that 2i2 interface, can confirm sound is good, low end a bit heavy, overall no real complaints. Planning to move up to some yamaha 7's or 8's soon tho, I like their high range response a little better
>>
>>60950363
Yeah, Yamaha HS8s should be a big improvement. The Presonus Sceptre S8 should also be excellent if you're willing to spend a little more money. And past that maybe Sonodyne SRP800s.

Throwing more money at speakers in this price range ($500 to $2000 a pair) results in quite large marginal improvements, and if you have a home studio it's one of the most useful things you can spend money on.
>>
well let's hope this wasn't a meme thread because I just spent some money
