I can't remember half the songs from OMRTS except for Chimes, Motherload and High Road (I also faintly remember Feast Your Eyes had a nice intro riff but that's about it). Hearing The Czar and The Last Baron for the first time I was so blown away but on OMRTS nothing really amazed me after previous releases, it just sounds like a bunch of b-sides. Pretty forgettable stuff compared to the entirety of CtS which I find so much interesting and memorable especially with the story tied into it.

the czar and the last baron are SO FUCKING GOOD. and i agree for the most part on OMRTS. alot of the songs are uninspired and dont really catch your attention. just by-the-books songwriting with riff here, sing there, and end with some kind of solo like thing.

The only really good songs on CtS are Oblivion and Last Baron. All the other shorter songs aren't really anything special and the Czar is way too bloated, it's barely interesting until the the last quarter

OMRTS is about as good/bad as the Hunter. i rated them as 5.3 and 5.6 which is pretty close.

This guys knows, QOTSA is one of my favourite bands, but this fucking album, it is/was surrounded in hype like I've never seen. I'm with you regarding that song, when I watched them live they played a 10mins version, one of my favourite moments in concerts if not the one.
Even though I recognise (I'm not music savvy, I just like it) the album was better tuned (as in more work was put into it), I still prefer all of QOTSA other albums, yes, even Era Vulgaris.
...Like Clockwork doesn't do anything for me besides that one song. Opinions, right?
