may weather was the most experimental track. good production if you can get past some of the more elementary lyrics on a few of the tracks. loved Throw Your Hands Up but took me a few listens to hear what he was saying cuz the low-mixed vocals. good as a whole. individual tracks dont execute well separately from each other.

I honestly can't stand the people who are hyping this record up to be a fucking masterpiece. It's objectively not that well mixed and the bars are lacking. He has potential, but you really don't need weed to listen to a record. The only thing weed does is make a good album even better, not a mediocre album into God-tier status. All of you need to shut the fuck up and accept reality. Why push so hard when you can listen to No Poison, No Paradise instead?

Youre right it is mixed poorly but not typical internet rapper poorly its mixed to concey a certain theme and emotion. I myself support jonathan exactly because he has pitential like you said. The album is not god tier def not. But even kendrick lamar wasnt making stuff like this when he was a teenager, i support the artist more than i do the album. Do you get what im saying? I didnt post it in this thread im just throwing in my thoughts because you seem to be confused about the hype. Also the way lyrics are self concious like how may weather says how the last verse didnt impress and each verse is waaay better than the previous, and how wai tu long song has a literal rap verse for the hook so essentially hear the same verse three times in the same song like its not that its aesthetically pleasing its more that on a deeper level its just very creative.

"experimental hip hop" as a semi definitive subgenre was mostly a phenomenon of the late 90s-early 2000s. Honestly I feel that clipping, deathgrips etc do not have the hip hop backbone or taste of their predecessors.

Experimental is not a genre. by definition, every experimental hip hop band will sound different to one another.
