There's no reason to discount live albums. It's pure autism.
Some artists become completely different live and experiment more.

My favorite band is Nirvana and I wouldn't even count the non-studio albums in a best of Nirvana list. Why? Kurt was a genius and it's best to hear him in studio/demo. Plus all their live albums are essential, so think they are different animals

It really depends on the artist. Sometimes live albums can be vastly superior to the studio recordings, like pic related.
