Most of it sounds like shit because it was recorded before I learned about good mic's, DAWs, or the concept of audio theory (pretty sure one song even has clipping baka). I'm in recording school now so the next stuff I drop, solo or with my group, will sound much better. Still trying to find my voice for delivery but I'm learning.

The constructive criticism I have is on your delivery (assuming you're the first MC on that song). It sounds like you're not really projecting your voice.
But it could also be the production making your voice sound thin. You need to record two vocal tracks, one just saying the last half of each line

hey all, noob here looking for advice. most of my recording/mixing efforts yield weak tracks (production-wise). specifically, the drums and synths (recorded directly through the interface) generally lack any sort of punch. they just seem to come out dull. i've a few questions:
1. what program is best for mixing/mastering songs with lots of tracks? i use a 16 track interface and record mostly live percussion, guitars, and synths. all i've used to edit is audacity.
2. what sorts of effects/edits will make my recordings sound more lively? i don't have the best mics, so the recordings are usually in need of post-recording work.
any tips are greatly appreciated, thanks y'all.
