Mainstream country has been shit since the 50's, the reason it isn't good any more is because there's no such thing as rebels who saw country music as the way to express themselves as there was in the past (and that's because when those artists grew up, rock hadn't really become a thing yet and nowadays there's every kind of rebellious genre you want and country can't fit that need)
