I think this album is perfect
It's tight, catchy, consistent but constantly throwing new things at you at every turn. Nothing feels random or gimmicky, the ideas this album presents are explored in depth and it pays off. The pacing is incredibly well done, with every track having a life of it's own and the band knows how to keep things moving along without bogging you down or rushing things. You can enjoy California as a whole or just pick a track and listen to its

I absolutely agree OP. It's a rock album on the level of Future Days or Laughing Stock, where the band transcends all levels of technical and creative ability in order to create a compact masterpiece of instrumental and vocal freedom. It's perfect, imo.
