Good

I bet that's how she fingers other women
it serves a purpose so yes
>>60788596
What she does on this video doesn't prove that she is a good guitarist because is so easy, but it works for this song.
>>60788596
Really good.
Technically speaking? It's fine. My problem is what horribly overdrawn midi organ sound on the background, ruins the whole piece for me.
>>60788968
Check the album version. It's more subtle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGIbR5jdA58

She's fucked more supermodels than you ever will
>>60788596
literally made me wew lass
>>60788596
Technically it’s a basic fusion riff, but it works really well for the song. So it’s good from a songwriting standpoint, like all of St. Vincent’s playing.
I think theres a video on noisey that shes a guest in, where she talks about how she plays guitar. I think tjat would be a better reference than her 4ad session.
>>60789083
True, but totally irrelevant.
>>60789083
You don't know that! I'm still young!

guitarfags gonna guitarfag

that's the weed number!
>>60789179
There's nothing guitar fag about it, I just wish they would have used an actual organ or they would re-articulate the notes once in a while. It's that digital wah wah wah wah that sustain notes start making after a while in digial pianos that just drives me up the wall.

>those comments
Come on she is cute but that is a little conclusion jumpy
>>60789181
You think that's funny? Check this out

>Effects overpowering the guitar so it sounds synthy
>Using a capo, ever
First time listening to St. Vincent, this is total trash. Not much talent to be found here
Someone convince me otherwise if you can
>>60788596
I like it, it works. The riff is much better than that weird ass simple solo at the end.
>>60789353
Listen to other songs of her.
>Effects overpowering the guitar so it sounds synthy
>Using a capo, ever
Totally intentional.
>>60789319
lol thats a sex number
>>60788596
I like it, pretty unique. Even though it would sound stupid without the effects.
This good? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMWZ8pUFK6o
the capo is to the guitar what the double kick pedal is to drums. a lot of dissenting opinion abound regarding those tools.
Haven't really liked some other STV songs I've heard, but liked this one. Willing to give her another go. What album is this from, any more like it?
The breast I've ever seen
>>60788596
Wow! Look just how quirky she is playing that stringbox! Haha!

Strange Mercy
>>60790201
Strange Mercy is the album, it is her best song in my opinion
>>60790201
Watch this video too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HO7mUCO-Xi4
>>60790386
But, that's not how you use a theremin.
>>60790386
Those are some terrible vocals right there.
Am I the only one here who cringed while watching?
Do people only talk about her because she's cute?

Garbage

Come on, a capo isn't bad. If you want the open string sound at a higher pitch - capo. If you want a chord voicing that you need four or five fingers for, an open Em9 shape with a D and an F# note on the B and e strings, respectively you could also use a capo. It's not a crutch, just a tool like reverb or picks.
