The M50s are good, but you can't definitively say they're the "best". Open air headphones will almost always sound better (with the downside that they leak sound like a mofo. You'd be an asshole to use them on public transit). Consider the Philips SHP9500 or any of the Grado cans in your shopping too.

Harman & Kardon is a great brand, not Bose tier, they even bought JBL some years ago
