I have an Asgard 2 amp and a modi 2 uber DAC.
I use the 650s for vinyl and use a Cambridge Audio 551 phono preamp/Pro-ject Debut Carbon.

the AT's you're talking about are closed back. The H598s are open back. You should not be comparing the two, at all.
If you plan on using them outside of your home, go with AT. If you just want to listen at home, get the HD598s.

they are rather flat, i have mine slightly equalized for the bass boost and thanks to that it sounds quite nice in that regard

They are great, but the DT990s actually do bassy music a bit better, the 880s are closer to a flat sound whereas the 990s are a bit more curved toward bass and treble.
