indeterminacy is a technique or style you can attribute to compositions or performances. Aleatoric music is music with indeterminate elements. All aleatoric pieces, by definition, have some form of indeterminacy. But not all pieces that include indeterminacy should be considered aleatoric.

What makes this chart retarded is that a lot of the "TYPE-IV/V" shit is terms used by certain composers. They're not necessarily really that specific, and sometimes pretty much meaningless outside of the context where they were originally used.
I mean stuff like "generative electronics", "machine improvisation" and "evolutionary music" should instead just be referred to as algorithmic music. And "xenharmonic" is just an unnecessarily obscure way to say microtonal music.

Intederminacy is like having 2 radios playing together, or notes generated by dice rolls. It will never sound the same from one performance to the next.
Aleatoricism is when a composer gives a small chunk of music to a performer, and they are asked to repeat it over and over again until a signal from the conductor. You'll see in that penderecki score the repeating chunks of music. This allows much more control over the piece, while still allowing some organic "out of sync" feels.
Lutoslawski is another composer who loves aleatoricism. His Venetian games and symphonies are well worth checking out.
Indeterminacy I usually associate with the US schools: Cage, Feldman, etc.
