Does this look bloated to you?
>>
Every time I look at a Fruity Loops screencap I get a migraine.
>>
need to hear it senpai
>>
>>60685416
Let us hear it op
>>
>>60685416
why you putting so much shit on one pattern instead of using the playlist though?
>>
Is there any tutorial on how to use the playlist? Because I never understood.
>>
yo sequence with the playlist function. did you cram a whole song into one pattern?

although that's just a suggestion, whatever works for you ofc it's not the looks that matter but what sounds you produce :)
>>
>>60685416
I really want to hear what the hell this sounds like...

I use Reason 4, Fruity Loops looks so overly complicated to me

What's so complicated about FLS?

what the fuck are you going for here? sounds like vidya

Christmas music, what video games are you playing?
>>

this is... huh... I mean outside the terrible sounds used, it's pretty nice...

Where can I find better sounds? I only have the demo!

Playlist mode is used to arrange the patterns you've made into a song.

It looks like you've arranged all of what you wanted to make into a single pattern. Instead, make separate patterns for each instrument and make it only as long as the part lasts for. And if it's a part that lasts throughout the arrangement (like the Grand Piano you have), then you can split it up that big chunk into multiple smaller pattern. If you used the playlist mode with the pattern you have, this pattern as a whole would be the only thing you'd be able to lay down, versus being able to choose individual parts and arrange them however you choose.

Hope this helps.
>>
>>60685648
nigga this sounds like terrible

like youve thrown some videogame music saounds on random
>>
>>60685754
Its not random, its all in key and arranged accordingly with the grand piano which kind of serves as the ship of the track operation.

Sorry you did not enjoy it, although.
>>
>>60685737
Well start by pirating the full version. Then start pirating VSTs. Then learn to use the playlist function.

Clyp.it is better by the way, it doesn't compress your files
>>
>>60685677
It just doesn't seem to cater to the needs of a fully active producer

VST plugin packs. You can get them (along with FL Studio) at stores like sweetwater/b&h/guitar center/etc.

I can't afford those things (!)

they can be obtained illegally...

my mom would also freak to this

Both of those are pirating!
>>
>>60685798
plenty of big names use FL studio, it's not really lacking in any functionallity. choice of DAW is just about the way you personally like to work. I use it for sequencing VST instruments but then mix in Pro Tools, just because I'm more used to working with audio in PT
>>
>>60685982
Download royalty free samples then.
>>
So what did you guys think of it in terms of composition?
>>
>>60685988
It just seems to be a fairly roundabout method of producing

You're going in and out of key, there's no form or sequencing, repeating patterns, the trumpets/guitarswhateverit is is crashing with your piano, your cresendo is just wat.

You dont happen to have autism or aspergers? This sounds like that.

you do realize the proper way to do it is transfering individual patterns into the Playlist, and then structuring and automating whilst in Playlist?
to me it looks like you did an entire "project" in one single pattern.

pic related is more what you'd like it to look like,
>>
>>60686221
It starts out in C# stays there until it shifts to B. a large portion of the second half is a B major scale
and theres nothing crashing
zoomed out piano roll of the grand piano

doesn't it work the same way

>doesn't it work the same way
ehm... no...
in the "patterns" you could either create someting in the piano roll (melody loop, beat loop, effects) or use the shitty 4/4 option (which nobody in their right mind would ever do as it limits you something awful.

the clue is to make one "pattern" and take all those different "patterns" into playlist to structure them. way easier and way more efficient.

also; if you're "serious" about what you're doing you might want to automize various parameteres of your synths and mixer-type stuff, which is also done in playlist.
you could sort of do it in piano roll, I know, but why the fuck would anyone do that??
>>
>>60686300

it's a complete clusterfuck regardless.

>>
>>60686625
sigh, no sorry.

If you want to get good at music, study what the greats do. Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and replicate that in a very simple way. Melodies, structures, harmonies etc.
You will quickly notice that even the greats have one strong motif that they build around, you dont have that, you just write away and all it sounds like is a bunch of chords slapped together at random.

Good pop songs is also a good way to start as they all ready are very simple to follow, but emphasise on strong and memorable melodies and chord progressions.

>>

>>60686448
Yes it is the exact same thing actually. You can automate stuff using the event editor, and you can lay down the pattern in the playlist editor and automate whatever you want.

Its ok OP, sometimes I put everything into one pattern too. Especially when you're through-composing and not really repeating anything.

This is what it sounds like:
https://soundcloud.com/psllbof/sets/symphony-no-1

Using Kontakt 4 and 5 VST, running East West and Cinebrass libraries.

A music degree is a must if you're serious about orchestral music. You need to be able to study the scores of Beethoven, Bach, Mahler, Mozart, Sibelius, Strauss, etc.
>>
>>60685667
Even as a reason user, I gotta say that reason 4 is ass to produce on. It's good for a beginner but you should look into upgrading to pretty much anything current (Reason 8, Live 9, FL12) as soon as possible.
>>
Why does Fruity Loops still look so 2004.
>>
>>60688914
It'd built in Delphi, aka object pascal. When they finally got around to vectorizing the interface they majorly half-assed it. I actually don't like the changes they've made to make it pretend like it's a linear DAW instead of a pattern-based sequencer. I stick to the old version.
