Winter is almost here.
What are some essential winter albums?
Pic definitely related
Also anything like pic related?
Mount Eerie - Dawn
Which is funny, cause it has a tribute to Björk on it, specifically the song Voice in Headphones which uses the chorus from Undo on Vespertine.
So Phil Elverum also considered Vespertine a winter album OP, as he had brought it as one of few albums with him when he lived on his own in a cabin in Norway the winter 2002-2003, where he wrote the songs for Dawn.

You could try Console's album 'Rocket In The Pocket'. Bjork used his track 'Crabcraft' for the backing track of 'Heirloom'.

Wait is there a difference between the one on Lost Wisdom and this? I think I'll play Dawn later today.
>no James Blake, Kid A or Sung Tongs
>>60685185
Lost Wisdom has some of the songs from Dawn. It's a collaboration album with two other musicians, and Phil just used stuff from his back catalog.
The songs on Dawn were created when he was living in Norway 2002-2003, but first released as a standalone album in 2008.

Got so much love for that album OP
I resist listening to anything from it for the entire year up until winter, it's the best thing to walk in the snow and listen to.
Haven't been on /mu/ in a few years and this thread has slightly restored my faith.

Julie Doiron's voice is so haunting and beautiful in that album. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mount Eerie's other work. I listen to Wind's Poem and Clear Moon while walking to work in the rain. I love the contrast between black metal and folk influences. It's turbulent reminds me of the drastic changes weather can bring.
I like listening to Cat Power during the winter as well. Moon Pix and What Would the Community Think (especially songs like Metal Heart and WWtCT) sometimes hide her beautiful voice, but I consider both her best work.

Definitely Das Tor, that shit is almost as wintery as it gets
