What's some music that does stuff with vocal harmonies and interwtining melodies? I dunno if I'm describing it well, but what I'm thinking of is a lot of Porcupine Tree stuff that did this and I kinda miss it in SW's solo work. Songs like Drown with Me, Every Home Is Wired, Mellotron Scratch and Baby Dream In Cellophane have these densely layered/ overlapping vocal sections that are really cool.
off my head
Pixies - i bleed
Alice in Chains - Down in a Hole
many aic songs to be fair
Fair to Midland and Rishloo comes to mind. Not really a lot like Porcupine Tree though, maybe Rishloo, but goddamn it Fair to Midland have some great fucking vocal melodies (and a bit unusual)
Girlpool does it sometimes

riffs

that really doesn't make them borderline nu metal. if they had a DJ instead of a keyboardist, then I could see your point.

People often compare them to SOAD and label them as Prog/alt metal
>>60642991
still wouldn't label them as nu metal. Nu metal as a whole is just a vapid label anyway.

Vapid label for a vapid genre tbf.

Well yes, though I like some bands that people would label as nu metal like; Staind, Deftones and Korn(their early stuff). Still, that label doesn't really mean anything to me
