>composed with Martin Tetreault (also Canadian) producing live free improv turntable music
>produced more avant-garde music with John Medesk
>completely reinvented turntablism and advanced production and methodology
>produced avant-garde musique, experimental electronics, trip hop and still has time for 2 memerap albums
>20 year career without a bad album
>constant boundary pushing live shows encapsulating crowd participating
>collaborated with numerous artists from Bjork to Gorillaz
>2 self designed concept albums using multiple instruments producing all music and artwork
>amazing live and in studio performer and producer
Anyone who came out of the Halifax pop explosion in the 90s. That scene produced a good chunk of my favourite music ever.
Thrush Hermit's probably got to take the top spot for me though. Pic related is probably my favourite by them but they've got a solid discography. Joel Plaskett's solo stuff varies, but I'm overall a fan.
Can we take a moment in this thread to remember Much Music in the 80s and 90s? That network was the coolest channel on TV, and it was open for anyone to just show up and watch bands do shows or interviews.
Just look at this shit! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M-81ss7XDs
