Name a more important musician who is currently living.

What's your favourite album Eno has been involved in?
>>
I can't really say I have a definite all-time favorite, but at the moment I've been really into My Life in the Bush of Ghosts

this wasn't a ranking
left side was stuff he produced or worked with
right was stuff he was more involved with as a musician
3 column was art rock, 4 was ambient, 5 was collaboration stuff.
Ambient spilled over to 3 and 5 at the bottom though

Eno created modern music, but Neil Young is god of rock.
>>
I think Eno's main asset isn't the stuff he does, so much as the way he describes it.

I mean much of the stuff he's done is basically straightforward and intuitive. Plenty of people do that. It's just that they don't bother to examine or articulate the process of doing it in a clear way that isn't jargony or academic.

Bob Dylan influenced key people in the original line up of psychedelic rock, punk rock, country rock, progressive/country rock, 60's pop, blues rock, heartland rock, glam rock, etc. His influence is more important than his music.

Actually kind of hoping Eno and Lopatin collaborate. Eno's on Warp now so it wouldn't be too out there, right?
>>
Sentimental favorite is probably Talking Heads' Fear of Music - my dad loves the album and has been playing it since I was ten.

I Zimbra live at Capitol Theater is definitely one of my favorite taped live renditions of any song.

As far as his music goes, as much as I love his ambient stuff (music for airports/Apollo/Discreet Music), Another Green World is great.
>>
>>60635727

Dylan.

Chuck Berry.

Little Richard.

Jerry Lee Lewis.

There's 4.

I got primarily the Grateful Dead, some Talking Heads, some Allman Brothers, and other assorted Dadrock. I didn't mind it at all, and its how I got into Bowie, King Crimson, etc.

My mom listened to Mike Love-era Beach Boys though. THAT was fucking abuse.

christmas music probably reached abuse levels even by christmas music standards

and dont even get me started on decorations

This is my favorite Eno (produced) album. I guess David Bowie was involved too, that's how immaculate Devo was when they made their debut.
>>
>>60640628

David Bowie like Arcade Fire and NIN his taste is nothing to go by.
>>
>>60640478

Still better than Talking Heads.

The Police and Talking Heads are the two worst bands of all time.
>>
>>60640708
Nothing wrong with those bands.

>Name a more important musician who is currently living.

Literally any living classical composer. Lachenmann for example. Penderecki, Arvo Part, John Adams, Lera Auerbach, etc.
>>
>>60640723
>Overstating the importance of classical composers
Don't be so daft/closed minded. Eno is just as influential as any classical composer, maybe Penderecki nudges him out but either way it's a ridiculous statement

>>60640720

lol whatever you say.

There is Bob Dylan, but importance could be argued I suppose
Favourite project would have to be Another Green World or one of the albums he did with Bowie, all stellar stuff IMO

Discreet Music.

Eno is the best thing that happened in music since Warhol.

I think Jon Hopkins is a much better candidate for continuing Eno's legacy t b h

I honestly think Eno's production ruined that album. It got rid of that raw essence of the group.

John Williams.

Aside from the fucking obvious(Star Wars), John Williams has been the soundtrack to so many of our lives that it's hard to even observe the multitude of ways he's influenced all of us. His music is so engraved in our minds and so prevalent in popular culture. Wave after wave of musicians, filmmakers, and visual artist have been imprinted with his indelible mark. EVERYBODY knows John Williams' music. Aside from being the end-all-be-all score composer of the largest film industry in the world, his tenure expands six decades with a list of his influential works too numerous to name.

John Williams is the most important living composer. Deal with it cunts.
>>
Eno stole ideas from different artists and just used them for more mainstream productions.

Example: The music of Harmonia was the basis of Bowie's Berlin trilogy.
>>
>>60641327

You're so wrong and oblivious of the music dynamic it's almost funny. I failed for the bait.
>>
>>60641345
Next thing you'll tell me is that he created ambient. Literally Satie with reverb all over it.

He's a very good producer but he's not an innovator. He merely refines already established ideas.
