>>60630561
When does the music start?
>>60630572
"surrealist music" implies acid. acid could be on sugar cubes dont be an aasshole.
>>60630494
nice rec anon i really liked this mixtape. glad to see it in a serious thread.
>>60630698
>"surrealist music" implies acid
Fuck come on anon, surrealism never has implied use of mind altering subtances, Salvador Dali one of the most famous "surrealists" of all time never even used drugs
>>60630735

I ran out of ideas, I would post residents but it's too obvious
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtxQncGyKek
Why would you take that much acid? Probably not even enjoyable when you take a shitload, or can someone correct me on this?
Is acid/LSD dangerous? Would some people harm themselves if they used it because they're not really aware of what they are doing for example?
>>60631208
yes it is dangerous, but if you already took it don't think about that
>>60631174
Two cubes is not that much.
He might have just taken acid recently, and thus required a larger dose.
>>60631208
and to answer your question, I haven't seen anyone do anything phisycally dangerous on acid, it could happen I suppose, but don't believe those "guy took acid thought he could fly" stories
>>60630476
beatles desu
not exclusively mmt or sgt.pepe, lots of surrealistic lyricism overall. although, seems like you're looking for acid music.
>>60630476
Is deerhunter surrealist? I'd say so.
>>60630640
It already ended. You just didn't notice.
>>60631486
Fell inlove with Deerhunter
stupid fuckin name though
>>60631660
What's wrong w/the name? I actually think it matches the aesthetic. I like it.
>>60630476
if this is an "acid music" thread i think >>60630494 got it pretty much covered. correct me if im wrong. even in terms of surrealism once you piece together all the songs as one flowing concept its pretty mind blowing.
Surrealism = Psychedelia
Impressionism = Ambient
Expressionism = Post-punk
>realist
>>60632577
Surrealism =/= Psychedelia
Music or poetry that utilises automatism in the lyrics (like TMR), experimental, dadaistic etc. is closer to surrealism than psych music
cLOUDDEAD's self titled has nice dreamy beats and surreal lyrics
>>60632526
>Foxygen
>Surrealist
lel what
>>60633861
TMR is a psych record son.
I'll agree not all psych fits the surrealist comparison but Syd Barrett and Captain Beefheart definitely do. Perhaps not coincidentally, both of them were dedicated painters.
>>60634083
Well ok DAD, didn't know it's a psych record. Btw didnt know about Barret painting, his stuff is not bad at all
Love, Son
Especially if you put stock in lyrics

Barrett had some mental issues and ate acid like candy. That being said, this is probably just two sugar cubes, which probably just contain a standard dose, which is a pretty manageable amount of acid. It depends on how you define "pleasant". The more acid you take, the less control you have over the trip, so if you're the type to have a "bad trip" (anxious, depressed, etc) it will definitely be less pleasant, but then you shouldn't really be taking acid anyways.
>>60631208
It depends on what you mean by "dangerous". Acid has a pretty high LD50; actual physical health risks start happening at very high doses (as in 80x or more of a standard dose, which is 125 micrograms), where you can start to get internal bleeding from vasoconstriction and respiratory failure. But these are huge doses that are almost always taken by accident (e.g. people railing a line of pure acid thinking it was coke). There are no physical health risks for doses anything close to reasonable.
As for people doing dumb things on acid, yes, it can happen if people are really out of it, but it's generally tied to some sort of psychotic break, which brings me to:
The biggest risk on acid is mental health. If you're schizophrenic, or bipolar, or depressed, or otherwise unstable (see Syd Barrett, Brian Wilson), acid can compound the effect of these issues. You can have a psychotic break, where you lose track of reality, often past the end of the actual trip. Generally, the stories you hear about "man goes crazy on LSD" are from people having psychotic breaks, and they almost always have preexisting mental conditions and were using other drugs. It's a myth that acid can cause schizophrenia or other mental disorders, but if they already exist, acid can definitely make them a lot worse. Disassembling your notions of reality and truth is a pretty intense experience, and for someone predisposed to mental trauma or delusions, it can trigger bad things.
>>60630544
actually laughed
>>60630494
Literally Acid: The Album
Natural Snow Buildings
Neutral Milk Hotel is the obvious answer though. Mango's lyrics are very surrealist.
>>60635364
This and mental disorders aren't typically diagnosed until people are in their 20s/30s.
