Who are some good Jazz drummers to listen to?
Buddy "I ruin every song I'm in by adding a pointless 30 minute drum solo and the only people who even pretend to like me just watched Whiplash" Rich isn't an accepted answer.
Nice try baiting for samples on your dumb hip hop project fagio

i was wandering about the same thing. i love jazz but i just can't get what do people see in buddy rich solos. do you have to be a drummer to get them or smt?
i play brass btw

Well that's an interesting guess you faggot, but actually the most of the drumming in jazz music would sound awful in a hip hop beat.

OP here, I play drums and I can't stand him. I usually hate drum solos in general for how much they ruin the momentum of a song, but he just takes it to another level.
Buddy Rich isn't all that highly regarded these days, guys
If you don't like him, maybe fusion period drummers like Lenny White and Billy Cobham aren't your bag either, but just mentioning them.
I recommend Elvin Jones, Philly Jo Jones, Max Roach, Tony Williams, Roy Haynes and Art Blakey

i actually talked about it with one of my drummer friends he said that he enjoys his solos because of how difficult they are
