TDS feels more raw, more unfinished, like Tyler, the Creator's Bastard versus Goblin. I agree that the production of both albums is exceptional, and the man's a creative genius, but The Fragile has more variety.
I will say that "Underneath it All" to the end can't compare to "A Warm Place" to the end of TDS. But overall, I prefer Fragile.

I really like the ideas on AHM like the chorus in the opening of the track and Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast but a lot of that album is gimmicky and overloaded with ideas. Plus they hadn't come into their own songwriting wise. They didn't know how to write acoustic songs yet, which they would master on Meddle (pillow of winds) and on WYWH and Animals (pigs on the wing, WYWH)

In various interviews and on Wikipedia there's little blips the band mentions about Ummagumma and AHM. They (especially Roger, who isn't happy with anything, including his band mates) didn't like the noodling period album wise, but I imagine were happy with the direction of Meddle. The 80-90's albums are ok (Momentary is much better than Division bell, but that's not saying much.) I'm glad they stopped when they did. They weren't a spent force creatively like Roger claimed, but they could have done better on Momentary i.e had better lyrics and more Pink Floydy type songs instead of a Gilmore led solo thing, but that's because Rick wasn't technically in the band and it shows how important Roger was.

I think TDS will always be my top pick simply because it's more of a concept album than most of the others. With Teeth is just a classic good album to me, I'd put that at #2. I can't rank the rest in any particular order but I'm still not sure about Hesitation Marks to be honest.
