What's so bad about crescendos? I've never understood this. If it makes you feel something, who cares if it relies on crescendos?

I like electronic-style post-rock, 65daysofstatic is the best at it but sleepmakeswaves and maybeshewill are also cool, but more crescendocore-y. Also m83

Nothing, but if every band starts to sound the same and uses them in every song they get boring
They should be used sparingly and well placed

>What's so bad about crescendos?

Well, for one, it's a cliche that post-rock fans are all too familiar with.

For another, sometimes I don't want to wait for 10 minutes for a song to peak. Like, sometimes, I want aggressiveness from the get-go without having to listen to more "conventional" songs, or straight-up metal.

I've never heard anyone refer to post rock having "waves" outside of /mu/

The thing about SFTB is that some of its most notable songs ("I Was A Prisoner In Your Skull", "Animus", "The Sound", etc.) are pretty much crescendocore as you can get.
>>
>>60624066
yep, this about covers it right here.
pack it up boys, thread is over

That one is though.

However GYBE and ASMZ are one of the few that do crescendocore right.

Are you fucking kidding me? The problem I have is that the song is so formulaic doesn't get loud enough until the end.

You fucking idiot.

The first two ASMZ albums are everything bad about Godspeed. I did like Horses In The Sky quite a bit though.

I don't see the crescendo here, except the end which is just has "SCREAMING OUT YOUR NAME" stretch into a that tremolo mishmash
