you are a RYM newfag. new version of the site has been a running joke for years because sharifi keeps promising it. he is an ambitious designer and has always made changes for the better with RYM (the new album pages, for example, were a shitshow to begin with before everyone finally caught up to his vision). i trust him wholeheartedly, cause he does real betas. the drawback with this is that we'll have a bunch of whining 13 year olds who donated using mom's credit card complaining that the new site isn't ready to go in three months because he actually takes time for beta testing.

RYM is independently-owned so I don't see that happening
as far as i can tell they are just spinning off the film section into it's own site, adding a video game site along with it and generally making it look less 2003
I'm excited for it. They specifically designed it with long time users in mind, aren't taking away features, are adding the most requested things, the site layout just looks like a polished version of the current one and nothing is too drastic. This is a good update versus Last.fm dumbing down their site to try and attract new users.

Absolutely not true. Gen 4, yes, but only for diamond and pearl. Lots of people loved platinum to the point where some even consider it the best pokemon game. But holy shit there is so much nostalgia for Emerald you have no idea. You gotta realize that most people who go on RYM didn't grow up with red and blue, they grew up with ruby and sapphire. Considering the gen 3 remakes came out with lots of acclaim and success, I'd say it's a lock that Emerald is the highest scoring pokemon game.

You are definitely underestimating the power of nostalgia. Maybe three to five years in, the taste of the users will become more elitist and refined, and many nostalgia games will get downrated, but it'll all be nostalgia-core in the charts at first.
What should really be interesting is how games like Shenmue, Heavy Rain, and other cinematic, story focused 'interactive movies' get rated. That should be really indicative of the sort of crowd the Glitchwave community will consist of.

that's understandable, but unfortunate to hear. I feel that DS2 and 56 Nights are his most refined and realised work from Future and most accomplished production from Metro Boomin, Southside and 808 Mafia as producers.
Rather than lazy and comfortable, I would say his confident and comfortable with his mumble-core trademark sound. This is perfectly complemented with the sound palette and aesthetic on DS2.
His increased accessibility is not much of an issue for me, the more people that can enjoy and agree on this great music from Future the better.
