Without a doubt.

Elliott Smith - XO
>>60569240

I don't think it's tryhard.
I've heard /mu/ call it that a few times, though.

>>60570604
/mu/'s full of contrarian faggots. There's no doubt that it's great.

I hate to answer with a meme album but this is basically the right answer. Possibly Dummy too.

All the best slowcore albums are pretty dreary. Even the album cover for this one is sad
hey ah na na
Maybe I'm projecting a bit too much because of the lack of lyrics and so on, but I find Stars of the Lid - Tired Sounds... really fucking sad.
pic related. not nearly his best work but probably the saddest album of his.

David Thomas Broughton - It's in There Somewhere...
Hymie's Basement - Hymie's Basement
Joy Division - Closer
Black Lung - Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars

>>60569504
It's a meme but it's a beautiful meme.
>>60579288
This was me but I'm bad at being a tripshit.
anyway the answer is Death in June - The Wall of Sacrifice
>>60575205
Personally this one is the saddest for me. Whenever I listen to it I think of all the dogs I've had and how we'd play and how much I loved them and I start crying immediately and then throughout the album. I love this album so much but I can't listen to it much because I don't want to ruin the memory of my best friends growing up. It's been a few months maybe I'll listen to it again
There can't really be a "saddest" album because everyone gets a different feeling from one.
Elliott Smith - Self Titled
>>60563869
this. I cried my shit out on the first listen.
I'm going to a burial in an hour.. probably will be listenning to this on the way..

It's not too sad apart from a few tracks. The fact that Trish Keenan died after is what makes it sad, kind of like J Dilla and Donuts.
>>60576863
Shits amazing so far.
