AOTY imo
I don't know anything too similar, but you might want to check out A Great Big Pile Of Leaves - You're Always on my Mind
>>
>>60554033
Same! This album blew me away, man. Already know about A Great Big Pile of Leaves. That band has such a cool sound but their albums always leave me wanting for some reason.
>>
>>60553952
top 5 of the year for sure. someone rec'd it in an emo thread not too long ago and im glad i checked it.
>>
>>60554313
might have been me desu

it's just so.... pleasant to listen to
>>
>>60553952
I really like it. But it is the kind of stuff I've always been into.

Also, if you can see them live, go for it. They sound great and they're playing with some great bands
>>
>>60553952
yeah i loved it
wouldn't say it's my AOTY though
been a fan since their first EP
can't tell if i like this one over magnolia,
and whether the record being homogenous sounding is good or bad
>>
>>60553952

I posted this album once and got called out for trying to viral my 'shoegaze emo shit'

>mfw

I legitimately put this album in my top 5 for 2015.
>>
>>60554605
i saw pillow talk at a house show they were great
>>
>>60554632
I feel the same. Magnolia is just the right balance for me. It's like comparing Hyperview and Floral Green, except Peripheral Vision is actually good.

>>60554654
I still haven't had a chance to. The first I heard of them was when I bought this 12"
>>
>>60554605
I saw them open up for TWIABP and I thought they were okay. Not a huge fan but they sound nice. I thought it was funny that the lead singer's stache made him look like Freddie Mercury. Honestly, I thought a lot of their songs sounded the same, but I don't remember. I've listened to this album 2 or 3 times before too. No sour grapes though.
>>
Anyone got a link?
>>
>>60554665
that's actually a spot on comparison anon
and speaking of biggest disappointments of the year...
that and the new citizen record were snoozefests
>>
>>60554665
i picked up Recreational Feelings on record and got a shirt. drunk me was loving it
>>
>>60554605
I was never a fan of Superheaven (Basement and Citizen basically do everything they do but like 100x better) but those other two are dope. Thanks for the recs my dude.

>>60554632
I thought Magnolia was meh aside from like 2 or 3 *really* amazing songs (shiver, most of the time, pray for me, bloom). Their debut EP is amazing though, love the old school Transit/Fireworks sound.

>>60554716
Hyperview could have been much better and wasn't anywhere as good as Floral Green or The Last Thing You Forget. Loved the new Citizen though.

Also, new Balance and Composure when?
>>
>>60554773
as good as the new citizen might be,
i saw them last week and translated live made the songs even weaker imo
and man ain't that the truth i couldn't be more stoked for a b&c release
and new basement hype of course
>>
>>60554678
That is a perfectly reasonable thing to say. That's what I didn't really enjoy about it, since they didn't play anything from Magnolia.

>>60554716
I liked the Citizen record. It wasn't nearly as good as Youth, but it was enjoyable for me. Hyperview was a letdown though for sure.

>>60554721
I got fully plastered after Turnover's set and before Seahaven went on. It was a great time.

>>60554742
I feel pretty much the same way. Citizen is kind of moving away, but Basement is definitely the better. If you liked those recs, just lurk the emo general. It can get a little cancer-y, but there are consistently good recs.
>>
>>60554742
>>60554899
Also, this was my favorite song from Magnolia

>>
>>60554899
Tried to. It's mostly Midwest emo bullshit in there and lots of TWIABP knob gobbling and I can't stand those fucks. I prefer my emo a little less self-indulgent desu
>>
>>60554918
The music video for Most of the Time is up there as one of my favourites.

>>
>>60554926
Really? I mean, more screamo and skramz are posted now, and most everyone kind of detests TWIABP. At least its certainly better than emo threads from 6 months ago. I can do without everyone rubbing themselves raw over TBLA though.

>>60554947
I had liked it a year or so ago and completely forgotten about it. I started to expand my musical tastes more and I fell in love with the song.

A few more recs that came to mind:

and a personal favorite

ripped off the Ty Segall album cover
>>
>>60553952
absolutely loved it. It's got such a warm and dreamy timbre to it

this is seriously so fucking good, i just saw them last week and it sounds even better live

>>60553952
AOTY for me too
