Discovered Black Star a week ago; been playing it non-stop.
Are any of Mos Def's or Kweli's solo works as good as this?
>>
Fucking when?
>>
>>60537160
For Mos def definitely check out Black on both sides and Ecstatic

Talib Kweli has Quality, but his best album is the collaboration with Hi-Tek (Reflection eternal)

You could also check out their verses on soundbombing 1 and 2
>>
>>60537192
is there any indication that this will be good because he seemed like he was sticking with the whole edm circuit/making songs with good charlotte thing
>>
>>60537216
Thanks man, will definitely check those out, especially Kweli's projects, loved his verses on Black Star
>>
yo why wasn't there a hhg for like 4 days?
>>

you should also check out 'the new danger'
it's got some really awful tracks + incredibly corny nu metal tier guitar riffs but at the same time it has a selection of some great songs

Even Chris fucking Brown is biting Thugger. Completely copies him at 2 minutes.

Thugger Thugger a trendsetter even in mainstream pop senpai.
>>

I have listened to that and honestly it was disappointing

You're right, there is some good stuff here and there but angry mos def doesn't really sound that good

6.5-7/10

Holy shit I thought you were exaggerating but this is fucking carbon copying. He even does the weird slurring Thugger does, what the fuck?

dude, this is why people shit on hip-hop heads... I mean i can get hype to the beats, but after a song or two it just gets to be too much. i mean for real, flocka is bad at his craft. the beats he gets are the only reason he is listenable. i shouldn't judge you, but I just hope you aren't actually a "fan" of Waka Flocka Flame. I mean you can't really sit and listen to an entire of that dude right? or is that not true.

you must be shitting me, he is garbage as fuck. you are why people dislike this genre, and why wack, corporate rap acts are as popular as they are, and guys with real talent sit on the fringes, I am about as much of a fan of rap as one can be, but waka is complete shit, and makes you a dumber human if listened to consistently. the topics he talks about are all morally corrupt bullshit lies. Trap bullshit rappers like him are the reason the genre is in such a funk. KRS One, Rakim, Nas, Em, Biggie, etc. etc. any real rapper who loves and respects the music hates these dudes, they have cheapened the product to the point of true retardedness when it comes to who is selling the most records. those guys have no talent for rap other than their fake ass stories of supposed crime they take part in, which is a lie, but moolies like you buy it for god knows what reason. educate yourself if you claim to love rap and support guys who make it worse and worse.

Yeah it's so fucking obvious.

On another note, I'd be fucking pissed if I pay big money for a Chris Brown feature on my new radio single, and he ends up rapping over the fucking instrumental.

Like the guy's got one of the best vocals in the mainstream pop industry, and he's a really average rapper. Stop rapping and sing.

bitchass moolie, how the fuck can you sit there typing bullshit to me. i can actually spit, can do it well and will most likely be in the game soon. the path is set, and it just involves getting clean for me. you are so far gone (haha) because you've been brainwashed by the bullshit pop music (it's not rap, it's cliche bullshit) that the ceos love to sell to peon faggots like you. i would fuck you up if you ever were to come up to me in the real world and try to start some shit with me. i really am not to be trifled with and i take words that you use seriously or not. integrity and pride is what a real man has. these guys don't do anything to help you become more of a man, they make you a bitch and bottomfeeder, they also reinforce stereotypes that helps nobody other than them and the ceo of whatever garbage label they are on. you need to stop ruining a beautiful musical genre with your peon tastes.

as a heartattack you weak bitch, i really don't play, as wack as that is to type online, i am not fucking around one damn bit, you most definitely piss me off and you make things harder for dudes with actual talent to become successful. you actually are supporting people who are truly bad at what they do! i mean shit, you would never accept a handyman, or barista, whatever the profession, if they were shitty at it. theyd be done away with for being bad at what they are doing. to support guys who suck at what they do is beyond comprehension to me. fetty wap, rich homie quan, future, all those fake ass dudes are bad at rapping. it's not an opinion, it's what it is. learn about it before you even begin to question me you fucking cockroach who eats the garbage those labels feed you. you're a peon, end of story.

Sunshowers was the first song that got me into M.I.A. I'd heard Paper Planes previously of course, and loved it like everyone else. But I listened to Kala wanting more Paper Planes and I got beats revolving around chickens clucking. My plebeian ears couldn't handle that at the time.

A few years later I heard Sunshowers, loved it and then listened to Arular, which is more more approachable than Kala. Have since listened to all her shit, and loved all of it. I dunno why, but that "he's got Colgate on his teeth and Reebok classics on his feet" line convinced me of her genius right there. I think it's because it's urban in such an unlikely way. I mean the contrasted against the video of a jungle setting with a brown girl riding elephants and shit... it's brilliant.

I've never really thought of M.I.A. as hip hop though. But I think with the Swagga Like Us performance, she's at least honorarily hip hop.
>>
>>60537583
sometimes, i don't have any agenda other than you have to be talented to be listened to by me. that should be a prerequisite. but it seems that bullshit is being bought and spread by dumbasses like you. fuck you man. do not question my shit, the one thing in this world i am 100% sure about it is my devotion to this music man. i am not lying or being over the top. you and your kind threaten my path and i will not accept it in any form.

the music sounds good although they suck at it? do you even realize how moronic that is? so nonsensical it is just pure brainwashed language and cannot be spread anymore. those labels profit greatly off of not having to disseminate talent, you know how cheap it is to lure someone who would kill to leave the situation they are in into "rapping" about fake crime and bullshit they do? it's evil man and is a stain on the music industry that a precedent has been set that talent doesn't drive what is popular. it's absolute garbage to the highest degree.

pop music has been this way since the sixties, its no new phenomenon even in hip hop

there's always a time and place for party music and flocka knows how to get a party going, despite his technical shortcomings

at the end of the day he's merely an entertainer, and i doubt he has any pretensions of being an MC after taking the edm path that he has

it sucks that truly talented people have to suffer though, but at this point the only way to fix that is to stick to your grind and prove yourself that way

It's odd that you would take it in your hands to do this. I mean all I do is express what I believe, nothing more, nothing less. I can't decide whether Ty Dolla $ign is really versatile or if he just has no clue what he wants to be yet. I mean this album has R&B songs, acoustic songs, rap songs, Mustard club songs, a fucking EDM song, and whatever the fuck Guard Down was supposed to be.

But overall a solid debut album aside from Guard Down which was an embarrassing hot mess. And it's a shame that it was so bad because Ty's vocals were outstanding on that track, but you can barely concentrate on them because of that dumbass drum beat thing.

that's true, but the level of garbage shit being eaten up by people is outrageous. he's a musician also. john bonham is not well known for sucking at the drums, eric clapton didn't rise because he sucked at playing the guitar. the fact that these people who are bad at something are not only being listened to, but praised by bullshit fad loving music blogs who know dumbasses will crawl over their site if they cosign these terrible rappers is crazy. the almighty dollar is completely in charge and it's a disgrace that a creative outlet for people is being cheapened to such a degree by guys who are, and i quote from your fucking post- "at the end of the day he's merely an entertainer, and i doubt he has any pretensions of being an MC", your need for party rap is not a good enough reason to block talented people in favor of people who aren't. you think that is fair or right at all?

I just listened to the album because I'm mostly into jazz and I saw a video where he mentioned that he loves jazz and Jaco Pastorious and
loves to play the bass guitar but the music he makes is...different I guess? But yeah I agree with you about that he can't decide what he wants to be, although I really like the more chill RnB tracks on the album
>>
>>60538105
i think he just wanted to prove that he isn't 'a go-to hook guy/dj mustard weedcarrier' but it ended up being a bit of a mess of styles - hopefully his next is a little more focused because as you said his vocals are special

Yeah Airplane Mode was great and could've even been better than Free TC if the songs were full length.

I have to say, though, the Mustard beats on this album were fucking great. Like he's usually really generic (and he still is) but he kinda switched it up for Saved and Only Right and I really enjoyed them.
>>
>>60538327
yeah fair was a lame way to put it, because life is unfair amirite? but yeah it is pointless you are right but I just can't stop, it gives me strength to be hateful and angry, although it's ultimately futile and harmful. but it wouldn't be the way it is if people were not buying it, so let's see if dissuading people to giving in to garbage shit works, even if its on an online philipino pog enthusiast forum.

>>
>>60538875
I can't stand the whole "real hip-hop" thing. He's talented but he needs to find a balance. I mean c'mon, there's a reason hip-hop doesn't sound like this and people don't rap over these beats anymore.

I mean, look at Joey Bada$$ and his crew. Yeah they've got a boombap sound but it's modern sounding and fresh. And Joey's been experimenting with his last couple tracks.

This is just outdated and dusty as hell. It does nothing but bring the nostalgia factor.
>>
>>60539196
it's interesting to me how many people wanna hate this guy though. why does someone like waka flocka flame get praised while everyone piles on this kid who is pretty damn good? I mean he can get better and more palatable to audiences who are less into the skill of rapping and more into the beats and image he has. Right now he just looks like some dude rapping, everyone needs an image. Always have.

Alright guys, I'm sure he's been talked about before and I'm sure you've all discussed him over and over before, but how do you guys feel about bones? A lot of people think he's shit and a lot of people seem to think he's great too. My friends are polarized when it comes to bones.

I myself don't know what to think. I find myself enjoying some of his songs and cringing very hard at other.

>implying Hip Hop isn't built off of back biting
I don't see anything wrong with this
>>
>>60539846
Great live would pay too see him if he came near me
too much filler but i mean it's free albums so who cares. I don't think people should be even trying analyzed bones at all
>>
>>60539821
This is embarrassing.
>>
>>60539846
alright when he actually raps but it's cringe-inducing whenever he tries to sing
>>
>>60538584
the sample on Credit is fucking great.
>>
>>60538062
underrated. I think this deserved more attention and I genuinely believe if he continues down his path he could carve a unique lane for himself and his sound.
>>
>>60538584
I would probably love that Miracles song the most if it wasn't literally recorded over a phone.
>>
>>60539878
It's shameless biting and it shouldn't be done. And Logic ALWAYS fucking does this. On this most recent album alone.

Kanye West - Amazing

Logic - Contact

Drake - Worst Behaviour

Drake - 6 God

Logic - Contact

The flow is near identical.

He even uses "you you you" adlibs on this album just like Kendrick does.

I mean Logic is a talented guy but he bites way too hard. He's almost completely unoriginal.
>>
>>60540609
Does he defend that by saying that he just admires them or something?
>>
>>60540665
He says he wears his influences on his sleeve.

More like he has them tattooed on his fucking arm.
>>
>>60540535
I actually like the way the vocals are recorded, it makes the song unique, but yeah I can see why people would dislike it
>>
>>60540609
Oh what the fuck, I thought the backyard sample was the only one. And now he's doing his best Drake impression.
>>
>>60540609
Logic flat out says he does this all artist in hip hop do it. It's really not that big off a deal.
>>

still the best song of 2015
>>
>>60540920
Nah as I said before City of Stars reminds me of Flashing Lights alot
>>
>>60540925
Nah no one does it as bad as Logic (aside from maybe Hopsin but at least he only bites one artist, plus no one in the hip-hop industry actually gives 2 shits about Hopsin). I mean at least Travis Scott puts his own spin on the shit he bites. Logic just straight up jacks beats and flows from his favourite artists and shrugs it off as "being inspired".
>>
>>60541047
Is it not? Drake out here stealing music from Nintendo and I don't see anybody shaking him.
>>
>>60540609
I thought Born Sinner was embarrassing. Jesus Christ.
>>
>>60541190
>stealing music from Nintendo
Nigga you mean sampling? lol
>>
Favorite tracks from GOOD Fridays? I just listened to them all and I definitely love Christian Dior Denim Flow the most, that fucking beat is amazing.
>>
Anyone know any good songs with multiple rappers on one beat? Im obviously discounting groups such as Wu-Tang or D12, the songs should be from a solo album. Should be at least 4 or more artists.

What ive got so far:
1 Train - ASAP Rocky
Anything with Black Hippie
Chopper - Lupe Fiasco
Pinata - Freddie GIbbs

Lel big up Drizzy for representing the scene.

Skepta needs to hurry up and release Konnichiwa.

The pre-album hype is the highest it can be.
