Did any band ever shit the bed as quickly as Management? Congratulations had some nice moments albeit awful drum mixing but their third album is like someone slipped the band laxatives and recorded the result with a microphone.

Not that guy, but I'd say the overall songwriting on BoB isn't as good as Highway. There's more repetition (e.g. Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again), and I disagree with the first guy and I would say that BoB is consistently great but aside from a couple of songs, including the beautiful "4th Time Around", there aren't any peaks like on highway

I totally disagree with Stuck inside a Mobile, I think it's one of the best songs on the album and the band's ability to repeat the same part over and over again while still making it interesting is admirable.
But you might be right with Highway being a better album over all. I've been blinded with my love of BoB for a while, I haven't given Highway a listen in a while.

Stuck in a mobile is amazing I agree, and repetition isn't inherently a bad thing, but it's not used in the same way as "ballad of a thin man", where each repetition takes a new meaning every time. Bob could do no wrong at that stage in his life though
