As someone who usually hates classics of the hard rock genre, my favorites still tend to be classics, two of the big ones that come to mind are:

Then what the fuck is hard rock? Let it Bleed was like the one album on those classic rock lists that made me think maybe the genre could be alright. Is is really all shit?

Heavier stuff, like The Stooges, MC5, maybe Led Zeppelin sometimes. Then again, hard rock is kind of a vague bullshit term that covers a lot of music spread over like 4 decades.
