For MYSELF It's albums that I can play over and over take a break and still come back and enjoy it
or music that I just can't believe an artist pulled off that's unimaginable in my head. Could be the year it was made,equipment etc etc
I consider the patrican/pleb thing a wake up call to that person to expand his taste

They are not math rock nor post rock, just post hardcore (but they were not the first post hardcore band).
Even if they were those genres, math rock dates back to 1986 (or 1968 if you count Mad River on it). As for Post Rock, it would either be Branca's Lesson No. 1 from 1980 or King Crimson's Larks Tongues (from 1973, but more arguable).
