>tfw you realize that an album consisted of the tracks on HOOM that were produced by Jim O'Rourke would be 10/10
Noticed this the other day while listening.
Also, Joanna Newsom thread
It's 10/10 as it is. Ryan Francesconi is the true master of HOOM. And Joanna's voice/lyrics are the best by far. An incredibly intimate album.
Actually being unironic here. I don't understand how this albums get all the praise that it does. It's two fucking hours long with three discs. The only song that even clicks with me is the first track and all the rest just sound the same. Enlighten me.

You probably don't like folk. Or her voice. There are so many great songs. If you're not enjoying it, you probably never will.
Hope that helps :3

If you listened to Baby Birch and weren't enraptured towards the end of the song you have no soul and no taste.

I like folk but this album is just boring. The arrangements get tedious and tiring after a while, and the lyrics seem superfluous and artificial at best, as if they're only there because they complement the song well rather than form their own independence. I hate, hate, HATE pseudo-intelligence in lyrics, as in artists being pretentious when they insert meaningless phrases and big words for effect.

Listen to Baby Birch again. It's actually pretty straightforward.

Yeah I'm sorry man. You seem like a pretty cool guy but the song is shit. I just listened to it again. It's boring. It goes into obscure metaphors that sounds good within the context of the song but don't really make any sense when analyzed. The most important part for me, however, is that the words don't evoke any emotion from me. They're just there. Holy shit.

The first verse at least is fairly straightforward in my opinion. It's generally believed to be about an abortion.
Album is 10/10. Right there with Ys for me.
"May he master everything that such men may know about loving, and then letting go."

read the lyrics while you listen, they're going to sound pretentious if you're not following them 100%

Disc 1 is a masterpiece, perhaps the crowning jewel of her discography.
Discs 2 and 3 always felt like she was spinning her wheels trying to fill out two more discs though. I wish HOoM was a double album.
Who else is excited to see her on December 10 in DC?

I dunno man. Listen to Kingfisher, Baby Birch, and In California. The former two are standalone masterpieces in their own right.
>>60470362
How can anyone not appreciate the In California > Jackrabbits > Go Long > Occident > Soft as Chalk streak?
That is five straight 10/10s. Listen to them again.

Baby Birch is on Disc 1. In California's good. I've thought Kingfisher was boring since it was first released as a single. I also really liked Esme and Does Not Suffice (great fucking closer).
>>60470626
I remember Disc 2 being kind of a snooze but you know, it's been a while and I probably should listen to HoOm again.
>>60470626
This totally. Does Note Suffice, Go Long and Baby Birch are my favourite songs in that order.

100 percent this. Joanna's voice on Jackrabbits... Oh man.
