Yes, Foo Fighters are a great generic rock band. They are great at being generic. I'm sure live, they're pretty fun, but hell, I could listen to EDM if it's a club, so that's not exactly saying much.
The problem with Foo Fighters is that their music is utterly cookie-cutter pop formulas. If they actually tried to expand their compositional palette, they would be a lot better.

Foo Fighters doesn't have enough blues in it for my tastes, doesn't have the guts of thrash or decent rock like '______' . The songs are often quite worthy and heartfelt and like Queen or something. It doesn't make sense to me.
Also I've found his fans to be complete cunts.
