Obviously. Those are both mediocre acts at best. I revisited Behemoth's supposed classic, Sventevith, and it's really just 2nd wave bm with all the challenging bits taken out. It just sounds too pleasant overall, largely because everything is so tonal/diatonic. Like if Emperor removed all the diminished chords and jarring chromaticism, and just kept the "melodic" parts. But I suppose if people are getting into bm by way of discovering Behemoth and going back through their catalog, they could do a lot worse.

First of all, take on account COF isnt Black metal, despite having used corpse paint at the beginning and Dani high pitched shrieked vocals. They started as a blackened death combo, but they moved away from that after the first album. So Cruely and the beast, Dusk ..and her embrace and Vempyre are great albums. If you listen at them as british heavy metal on the vein of Judas Priest/Maiden, you will find them great.

God damn this albums always surprises me on so many levels every time I listen to it. The guitar work is both catchy and articulate and there always seems to be an interesting melody happening at all times. Rhythmically this album is also pretty fucking weird in the context of black metal. Just the way the rhythm section works sometimes and what stylistic choices the percussion works with, in its ever changing dynamics, almost make me want to draw some sort of relation to post-hardcore or something of the like. The melodies- hell literally everything, melodically, rhythmically, structurally is just so well developed and tasteful. Taake does not get enough credit.

Ok /mu/, I'm going to need some help over here.
I've just finished recording the instruments of my Black Metal album (in the style of "pure" Norwegian Black Metal from the 90's ala Darkthrone/Mayhem but with some melodic passages ala Burzum). The next step is making the band logo. However I'm not sure what to do, either draw a logo from scratch or write the band's name with a "gothic" font. I also have no ideas as far as album artwork goes, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I will share the album on here as soon as it's done.

But Big Black has an undeniable element opf thrash. It's obviously hardcore punk but when you take the noise, the industrial sound, and the speed of hardcore you're gonna sound a little thrashy.
