I'm half swedish half brazilian and I've lived there for almost 4 years (2009-2013)
and as i learned the lyrics i saw why white people can't understand funk. They
overlook great melodies and sampling works because of lyrics and of their shitty bias
and pride, even though they love music from international artists that have way worse
lyrical content. I think Funk is excellent and people like this guy >>60378928 need to
reevaluate their thoughts even though music is subjective.

Concordo com você, o funk tem seus méritos. Claudinho e bochecha e tal, que usavam elementos de outros estilos musicais e faziam um som decente, mas posso garantir pra você que, no mínimo 90% do funk atual é mal produzido, sem inovação, e sem falar nas letras que nunca foram realmente o forte do funk.
Acho que o real problema do funk atual é que todos os "mc's" só querem fazer funk pra "estourar", o que resulta em coisas que estupram os ouvidos alheios, vide MC tati zuque e essas bostas.

Post funk tracks with great sampling work. Also, I get that the style can be very interesting if you've never listened to it -it sounds like pretty much nothing else in the world- but to a Brazilian who's familiar with just how much of a cookie-cutter industry the funk scene is it's absolutely legit to dismiss it (though I don't hate it just because it's value resides in entertainment and not in art, I'm pretty ok with it).
Also the fact emicida is lauded as a good artist has nothing to do with race, he's fucking black for dilma's sake. There's more to appreciate, lyrically, in levanta e anda than in any funk carioca track I've ever listened to. Even the funk track in his album is way above average
