Misunderstood genius or overrated hack?
Genius amongst the most respectable musicians ever.
Turbogenius.
pop star intensely overrated by jazz-plebs who think laughing stock is the pinnacle of human creative output

I hate plebs who think SoE or LS are anywhere even similar to jazz.
>>60337987
the drumming and instrumentation is blatantly similar to jazz

Structurally, compositionally, it is nothing like jazz. It uses woodwind instruments though so I guess that means its jazz-lite xD

>Structurally, compositionally, it is nothing like jazz
er what? how much jazz have you listened to?
improvisations around a single strong theme is an incredibly common general composition in jazz music

SoE and LS are structured in ways of conventional rock music, for the most part. Particularly SoE. Chorus - verse - chorus. There aren't any virtuoso extended solos at all, in either. It isn't remotely similar to jazz at all

uhuh

Go listen to In a Silent Way and then come back and tell me it isn't structured in a similar way to Spirit of Eden

Both those albums are very repetitive and atmosphere-focused and minimalist. Although the stuff in there is improvised, they are cut together into soundscapes that do not facilitate nor have jazz style solo instrumentation. I'm sorry but that's just obvious by listening to them.

It's not at all. Spirit of Eden has long, drawn out, but conventional rock song structures. In A Silent Way is repetitive and maybe slightly less solo-oriented but its still very much a jazz album. They aren't similar at all.
