Most headphones have a boost in the bass frequencies and for good reason. Any headphone intended to be used outside, in transit in vehicles and on public transportation absolutely needs a bass boost. The m50s bass is a good compromise. The "too much bass" is a meme perpetrated by faggot hipsters who hate on things that get popular. I say this as someone who owned m50s but now owns HD600s
