What I think most people are missing here is what "progressive" actually means. A progressive genre is NOT just "this genre but longer." Prog means the genre is mixed with elements western classical and jazz. Yes, some of these elements include suites and longer songs, but this is a consequence from the combination, not an element that can be added by itself.
Example: odd time signatures are a characteristic of "math" genres. Just writing a song in an odd time signature (writing a regular 4/4 song and saying it's something retarded like 11/16 even if it really doesn't fit) doesn't make it a math song.
