As long as you paid for all his music and merchandise, I don't think he would hate you. He might've made fun of you and thought you were an idiot for taking drugs, but, as long as you were a devoted enough fan to help him pay the bills, keep a roof over his head, and put food on the table, I don't think he would've hated you.
