>>55643415
pretty /mu/ tbh
>>
>>55643415
Some good albums, a lot of trash. Just like /mu/
>>
>>55643415
all the worst of /mu/ core, that's what i'm thinking
>>
Looks like the same trash p4kcore that the 14 year olds on here obsess with.
>>
>>55643415
/mu/ would eliminate half of those albums
fucking Oasis? give me a break
>>
>>55643415
12 acceptable albums
>>
>>55643415
How unbearably white. Some of these aren't even fucking independent.
>>
>>55643415
Slint isn't indie and neither is loveless

Looks like a plebbier /mu/core chart though
>>
Haha pavement.(◠‿◠✿)
>>
> modern
> all from 5 years ago

> classic
> all from 20 years ago

> indie
> a number of albums from major names and producers

Yeesh.

Good albums though. Pretty entry /mu/
>>
i don't think they understand what indie means

some good albums though
>>
Is this definitive proof that indie rock is the worst genre of music.
>>
definitely tons of shit i would never consider essential by any means. it's like they just added anything they could think of instead of condensing it down into only the actual good shit
>>
>>55643533
>>55643529

>Being so pretentious you still cling to the old definition of "indie" music being independently produced when literally everyone knows what you mean when you say "indie"

I love this meme.
>>
>>55643580
What the fuck is it supposed to mean then mr smart guy?
>>
>>55643415
not bad tbh some shit albums though and why rec two albums by the same person surely they'll listen to the other if they like that artist anyway
>>
le unbearable whiteness of indie

so little of the list is indie
!!!!!!!!
eeeeeeek
>>
>>55643479
I count 2 (OTC and BPB), which are the other 10?
>>
>>55643510
>>55643529
Yeah, was thinkin this
>>
>>55643415
doesn't differ from /mu/ one bit
reddit and /mu/ are the same thing
>>
Is it just me or is Indie rock one of the most popular genres on /mu/ I see it everywhere, not that I don't like it
>>

shit doesnt even go past the 80s. bretty basic chart, who gives a hoot
>>
>>55643596
All it means now is that it identifies with the indie culture. When you think of "rock" are you thinking of a harder-hitting, guitar centric combination of country and R&B popularized by Sun Records? That's what rock was in 1956 but now it means something different, just like indie

>>55643671
meme
>>
>>55643671
Congratulations, you are cancer!
>>
>>55643671
15 year old confirmed.
>>
>>55643415
It's good.

Indieheads is the best music subreddit, probably. Not a single a single album on that list is objectively bad, although some are very mediocre.
>>
The only difference between Indieheads and /mu is that there is less "ayy lmao" on there than /mu
>>
>>55643671
well droned

Also, there's OK Computer & In Rainbows but no Amnesiac!
>>
>>55643712
Meh. It's a pretty shit way to classify music. Genres should be objective, not based on cultural context.
>>
>>55643465
HEY
ROOD
>>
>>55643415
>oasis
>no blur

shittaste

>>55643958

Congratulations, you're retarded.
>>
>>55643984
liking blur is shite but I can't say that here because the mods don't like me.
>>
>>55643639
Elliot smith is pretty nice.

Literally /mu/core: the chart
>>
>>55644197
You don't understand what ad hominem is.

Calling you retarded because you said something dumb isn't ad hominem because there is no causality going from retardation->statement.

Stating (or in some cases, Implying) that what you are saying is wrong _because_ you are retarded is ad hominem, because I am citing your retardation as cause for you being wrong (retardation->statement) instead of addressing what you are saying directly.

You are further retarded for not understanding the above statements without me explaining them to you.

>>55643958
Furthermore, cultural context is frequently more helpful in describing music than "objective" descriptions (which do not exist, lol) because they allow for an understanding of what is going into the album / what is happening around it to influence it. This is where you have "scene vs. genre" arguments popping up.

The whole argument "descriptive vs cultural context" is idiocy because they are two sides of the same fucking coin and work best when used in conjunction.
>>
>>55644421
Good points. Thanks for contributing to the discussion. That wasn't too hard, eh bud?
>>
>>55643415
so reddit has the same taste as /mu/ and rym. how interesting.
>>
>>55643415
>Bjork
>Indie
tha fuck
>>
>>55644518
Genre discussions are as petty as they are fruitless.

I could just as easily have called >>55643750 retarded.

So far the most level-headed poster upon skimming through is >>55643580
