Red Rodney- Then and Now (1992)
>bebop
>Red Rodney was one of the greats who played with Charlie Parker often in the early 50's. He had a re-emergence in the 80's and continued to tour into the 90's. This album has his common collaborator Gerry Dial on piano and the young, then-unknown Chris Potter on saxophones. The recording ends with an interesting interview in which Rodney discusses the members of his band and what they bring to the music.

Jimmy Raney- Solo (1976)
>guitar jazz, improvisation
>"Solo" is possibly a misleading name for this album, which is actually a series of duets that Raney did with himself via overdub. In addition to swing and jazz standard numbers, there are also pieces that border on free improvisations, and a well-composed two-part fugue.

Kenny Wheeler- Songs for Quintet (2015)
>post-bop
>This was the legendary trumpet player's final recording before he passed away in September, 2014. Jonathan Kreisberg- Nine Stories Wide (2004)
>post-bop, modal jazz
>A departure from his quintet and his original compositions, this album features Krieisberg in a guitar trio setting and playing mostly new interpretations of jazz standards. Chico Hamilton Quintet ft. Eric Dolphy (1959)
>avant garde, third stream, hard bop
>Dolphy joined forces with bandleader and drummer Chico Hamilton in the late 50's and proved a valuable addition to his band. Here, on Hamilton's interesting original compositions the band blends mainstream jazz with classical music and touches of the avant garde. Dolphy's early playing is rich with bebop-isms but already starting to move away from them in interesting ways.

Great music, reccing it but the first song, Animation only has audio for like 30 seconds which sucks.
Circle Takes the Square
>Punk/Metal/hardcore with Prog elements. Some consider it to be kind of early emo/screamo, but I don't really know how to define emo/screamo, so I wouldn't say that myself.

Their two full lengths are free on their bandcamp

The sample I used is my favorite song from them, but it's only on one of their first EPs, if anyone is interested, I can post the link to that EP as well.

this is textbook screamo, and that's not a bad thing. i wish more bands did that call response vocals shit that they have going here. i recc this to hxc bois
>>55519344
Really? Would you consider it to be different from the modern day screamo out there today? I loved this band back in like 2013-2014 when I was like 14 years old, but I never really got into the whole screamo/emo movement cause the edginess of the fans bugged the shit out of me. I just figured it was more like a metal/punk/hardcore blend, and I was big into metal and punk back then, so I thought it had a refreshing sound compared to what I was listening to back then.
Can you rec me anything else similar? I love how lyrics are so arcane, reminds me of black metal a lot- but of course I wouldn't call them that.

/mu/tants check out this insane progressive metal band from Reading, Berskhire UK.
Sylosis - Monolith.
The drumming in the first track is fucking insane, tight and precise. They're definitely in my top three favorite bands.

Orpheus and Eurydice. The last track of this album is Enshrined. It's a 19 minute track. Enshrined A ends at about 4:30. 9-10 minutes worth of silence. Enshrined B starts around that time.

Patato Valdes and his Latin Percussion Friends- Authority (1976)
>guaguanco, Afro-Cuban improvisation
>Valdes was one of the percussionists who played on a number of great Latin records in the 50’s and 60’s. This album is heavy on percussion and vocals and features the stringed instruments quinto and tres in the traditional Cuban style of guaguanco.

Anyone have Stand! ?
Okay, time for a request folks. A couple days ago there was a summer-core thread, and some guy posted pic related. The album is (supposedly) called Mewled Elm by artist Amica Mia. I can't find a trace of this on the web, but I don't have a what.cd account. I need help badly, anon.
Sharing This Raw Feeling EP by Route 8, coming out of the Lobster Theremin UK label. They are very forward thinking and abstract with their techno, but this is still a very welcoming release from my favorite artist of theirs. Link below :
