LATEST TWO ARE DOPE AS FUCK
>>
Is there a collection somewhere of all his Soundcloud releases? I'm seriously behind in hearing anything of his not on an album.

He probably forgot to set it to downloadable - happened on some earlier tracks too. Soundcloud decided that it was a good idea to hide away the downloadable checkbox in a different tab than the one the pops up for general info editing.

This track has been confirmed to be released at one point.

>>
>>55473139
He could be bullshitting though.
I still reckon that track could equally be Squarepusher's.
>>
where's his hair

THANK MR JAMS
>>
>>55469228
it's a load of shite tbh
>>
>>55473139
How the fuck does he do this
They can't take him that long given the sheer number he has, so how does he manage it??

I'm serious, is it hardware synths? Or all DAW based?
>>
>>55469228
Last tracks have been pretty meh.
>>
>>55473337
He's done both. Primarily hardware though.
iirc the only period where he was more strictly DAW-based was Drukqs and Windowlicker.
>>
>>55473337
He mostly uses(used) hardware synths. Of course analog fags will give you shit for even sugguesting AFX uses DAWs, but he has used some according to his comments.

>this whole track
>>
>>55473398
of course he does, he's not a luddite
>>
>>55473422
Which of my sentences were you referencing?
>>
>>55473422
He uses DAWs for a lot of sequencing I think, for obvious reasons, but the synths and effects themselves are outboard.
He also did some tracks on Syro that were sequenced entirely with hardware like CIRCLONT6A.
>>
God bless you Prichard D. Jams
>>
>>55469228
t mr jams
>>
>>55473486
well if you knew what 'luddite' means you wouldn't be asking this question :^)
>>
where the fuck are the downloads
>>
>>55473535
>being this computer illiterate
>>
>>55473383
HAB and a lot of RDJ Album too.
>>
>>55473383
>>55473398
Ah right, yeah you can hear the difference on Windowlicker.
But for example I heard SAW1 was recorded straight to a tape machine, how is he making that stuff all live??
In case it isn't clear I know nothing about electronic music
>>
>>55473563
Same way all dance music was made prior to computer-based production. By hooking a sequencer up to synths, drum machine, samplers etc and recording the output through a mixer.
>>
>>55473625
not meaning to set off an argument here, idk if it's a contentious topic, but to me hardware-based stuff often sounds so much better than DAW
>>
>>55473674
How so?
>>
>>55473674
does vinyl sound "better" to you too, you hipster?
>>
>>55473674
They both have their merits. Certain types of music lend themselves to software more than hardware though, and vice versa.
Admittedly these days you're less likely to hear really shit amateur stuff made on hardware since it's so expensive by comparison. Not every Bandcamp kiddie has access to a wealth of gear.
>>
>>55473715
I can't explain it, it sounds less overproduced most of the time. For me there's a point at which things just sound too polished, but of course that might be a positive for some people

>>55473722
>hipster
gb2 2011
>>
>>55473674
Agreed. DAWs are always much "cleaner" in a bad way, you can tell when presets were used. The only good way to use a DAW is to use it as a sampler.
>>
>>55473883
What if you want your music to sound "clean" though?
>>
>>55469228
thank mr jams
>>
>>55473909
Then go for that. You just can't compare DAWs to analog.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z4cLmbw6q0
>>
>>55473980
Of course you can't compare analogue to software. But no sound is inherently better than the other. They're just different sounds, simple as that.

>posts two tracks for comparison
>>
>>55473980
as long as you can emulate an analog synth in a DAW it makes zero difference

sound waves are sound waves
>>
>>55474027
Are you trying to be defensive by pretending I spoke of my opinion as fact?
>>
>>55474099
Bring examples. Yet to see a good TR 303 emulator, and that's just an example.
>>
>>55474099
Not the same guy but analogue emulation still isn't anywhere close to perfect. Otherwise people wouldn't still be paying through the nose for the genuine article.

pure ambient, not amb techno, ergo no beats
>>
>>55474493
I think he does good when he combines ambience and reverb with his beats, but SAW II is overrated as fuck.
