What are some objective masterpieces of their genre?
I'm not asking for your 10/10's, or your personal favorites; I'm asking for albums that, regardless of your appreciation of them, are undeniably the most well executed of their particular genre.
If you'd like, you can attach the genre you think it applies to on your post.
For instance: Ambient.

>I'm not asking for your 10/10's, or your personal favorites; I'm asking for albums that, regardless of your appreciation of them, are undeniably the most well executed of their particular genre.
where the fuck do you think you are? this board is loaded with underage users who know next to nothing about music in the long run and just resort to liking whatever based on fads.
don't ask serious questions on this board. there's no use.
krautrock
>objective
>undeniably
idiot
>>53391216
The argument could be made for Future Days/Tago Mago but I agree.
>>53391220
If you don't have anything valuable to say, you can leave the thread.
>>53391175
brutal/technical death metal
>>53391222
Ege Bamyasi i think is better than both of those. has the best closer
Psych rock
>>53391248
That's a bit much, I think. Albums like Black Foliage or Piper at the Gates are much better choices.
>>53391222
>>53391243
wait hang on, this thread is about objective and undeniable truth. theres no scope for discussion, you just apply your objective and undeniable criteria and post the best album only. so which is it?
>>53391271
Well, some people don't think out their choices a lot.
That being said, I actually partially agreed with him on his choice.
I'll refer you here: >>53391230
>>53391268
black foliage is too poppy to be called psychedelic rock
>>53391296
IDK, the core principles of the album are pretty much Psych-Rock. Certainly it isn't an ordinary Psych album but the idea of the semi-hallucinogenic interludes and sound collages is arguably very much a Psychedelic ideal.
>>53391291
I think it would help, for the sake of clarity, if you laid out the objective and undeniable set of criteria used to determine the best albums. Then we could use them in other threads too, and send the list to all the music reviewers so they can stop disagreeing.
>>53391317
I'll refer you here: >>53391230
>>53391325
No come on, how can we hope to agree if the criteria for selection arent made clear at the outset. Besides, think how many arguments it would solve beyond this thread.
Vaporwave
Madvillainy.
>>53391376
Yeah, pretty much.
Floral Shoppe can't really compare.
>>53391378
I actually do agree with you, but some might make the argument for Illmatic.
>>53391175
Burial's kindred to garage
klute's noone's listening anymore to jungle/dnb with some lush 808's
>>53391378
Genre being - Bland & empty dated neo-hip-hop-beats?
>>53391417
lol don't even ask my why, but i read dilla's donuts.
point still stands, only with a completely lifeless rapper on top of it
>>53391417
You've failed. Madvillainy is unquestionably timeless. If you have an argument to dispute that, feel free to let a river of shit flow from your mouth.
>>53391489
Not really, since it sounds like shit. Even Death Grips are objectively sonically miles ahead of that, and that's what matters most in music
>>53391507
http://nationalautismassociation.org/
I think this is going to help you out a lot, there's a lot of really great reading material in there for people like you.
>>53391507
>sonically miles ahead of that, and that's what matters most in music
>and that's what matters most in music
>>53391528
wicked
cheers m8
>>53391557
>listens to music that doesn't sound good to them
Dated is the keyword here.
>>53391243
Anyone who thinks Ege Bamyasi is better than Tago Mago is fucking retarded. I don't have many strong musical opinions, but that is one of them.
basically THE post-Sabbath weed album
>>53391243
>mfw ege is the worst CAN prime album
>>53392401
right there with ya. TAGO MAGO is untouchable
>>53391216
s/t > IV
>>53392401
>>53392485
Further proof that Ege Bamyasi is underrated.
>>53391216
have to disagree and say this.
>post-hardcore
I really have a hard time picking between Spiderland, Yank Town, Leaves Turn Inside You and 1000 Hurts
noise rock
live 89
>>53392650
Live 77 from LRD is better imo even though Haino is god
>>53392585
these are some good fucking picks man. But I'd put Repetition, as LTIY is much more post rock than post hardcore.
Also, it's really tough to pick the best in post rock as its so fuckin diverse. ECIM, Hex, Laughing Stock, something by stereolab or sigur ros?
>>53392650
>>53392767
who are they from they wont pop up on google
Country/Folk
>>53392818
fushitsusha
>>53392818
Les Rallizes Denudes
>>53392987
>>53392992
both equally good contenders to be honest
>>53392987
>>53392992
thanks
>>53392466
This or dopethrone
The only grime album that matters.
I think this is generally accepted as THE alternative metal album.
>>53391248
that's not bjm
>>53391241
Nope.
>>53393063
fwark I love dopethrone
every OSDM fan jacks off over this album.
probably the best post-rock album
death-doom
>>53393638
this.
>>53393522
That's not Spiderland
>>53393093
nu metal
Hip Hop
There is no flaw with this album.
Jazz
>>53393778
>Miles Davis, John Coltrane, the list could go on
R&B, Soul
>>53393522?
is there anything else that is similar to this?
i've not heard that much post rock other than this and gy!be but i want more of this
>>53393944
spiritualized, sigur ros, brion eno
>>53393944

O'rang(formed from Talk Talk members) - Herd of Instinct

>>53394056
>>53394073
duly noted, thanks guys
>>53391376
Considering how vaporwave is a trash meme genre, that doesn't say much
>>53394188
that's the point you fucking retard
>>53394263
>i-it's SUPPOSED to be bad!
"boom bap"/underground hip hop
THE britpop album.
>>53391376
>>53393819
Idk this is really close to pic related
Progressive Hardcore
>>53395007
Yea I feel ya. Just picked D'Angelo because I prefer the production a bit more. What's goin on is definetly the cornerstoneof the genre though.
Stoner/Desert Rock
Psychedelic Soul and probably the only good Psychedelic Soul album with There's a Riot Going On.
>>53393638
lolno
try Brave Murder Day, or Musta Seremonia
>>53393819
>>53395007
Theyre both great but they dont even begin to compare to pic related.
>>53395245
>he hasn't heard anything by Parliament/Funkadelic
Do you even Mothership Connection?
>>53395007
>>53393819
>>53395257
Remember the thread is masterpieces, not necessarily the sole best of the genre. I think we can agree these are all fantastic. Which one is the best is definitely open for debate though. As for modern day, D'Angelo is unfortunately untouched.
>>53395188
I used to think that too until I started learning about production and mixing and what it means to make a good recording. Rated R is better.
New Wave
Rock
Post-hardcore
Technical/Avant-Garde Death Metal
>>53395457
More than Yank Crime?
Not necessarily a genre but it might be the greatest concept album OAT
>>53395463
I loved Yank Crime. I dunno, it's really hard to beat Caress and If It Kills You for me.
>>53395402
totally agree
>>53395188
But I'd still put Welcome To Sky Valley above both of them
zeuhl
>>53395482
What genre would you give Neurosis?
>>53395568
Most commonly referred to as atmosludge, or the much dumber 'post-metal'. But I think it's just the best sludge metal album period. Maybe even the best metal album.
>>53395568
fedora metal
>>53395588
Like it a lot too. But I would'nt call it the same as I call like Buzzov*en. They are both the best at their shit
>>53395547
Any such thing as zeuhl metal?
>>53391175
>progressive/avant garde metal
>>53395618
In metal every goddam band have their own genre
Progressive Folk
Grannygrind
>>53395618
define zeuhl
Classical music

Music in general as a whole.
Funk.
>>53396285

>>53396049
Smells like the only Kyuss album you've heard
>>53396307
Also acceptable.
>>53393522
Spiderland's a better pick IMO.
Or even LYSF.
>>53395738
You could have picked MUCH better...pic related
>>53396214
ugh I guess but that doesn't say a lot for neoclassical
