Dustbowl Ballads
Arguably the most important folk and compilation album ever released.
Err, you do realize that the vinyl 33 album didn't exist until the 50s. The only "albums" they had then were books with a collection of 78s in them.
City of Glass (3rd stream != jazz, asshole)
Dustbowl Ballads
Moondog (the 1956 one)
Musique Concrete 1959 no. 2

Martinů's symphonies. first was completed in 1941.
Essentials would be symphonies 1 and 4.
Others would include Stockhausen's Klavierstücke, Gesang der Jünglinge, Kontakte and Gruppen, Shostakovich's symphony 10 and 11, and his string quartets 5-8 Lutosławski's Concerto for Orchestra, Finzi's Cello concerto, Xenakis' Metastasis and Pithoprakta, Górecki and Dutilleux's first few symphonies, Penderecki's Threnody (1960)
and maybe throw in some Takemitsu, Partch, Nono, Berio, Schnittke's Nagasaki, Carters first 2 string quartets, Babbit, Boulez, Copeland, Crumb, Zimmerman, Young and RVW's later symphonies.
