so guys, i've been here a while and only now have i tried to into shoegaze. So far, Loveless is 10/10, souvlaki is 8/10, and nowhere is mediocre.
what's some more noisy-ish shoegaze? rym's lists are too daunting

also, feel free to shoegaze general

Pic related has always been one of my fav shoegaze albums along with Loveless and Constance. The bass just kills it.

>>51434772
alright, i'll download these

>>51434845
i've downloaded this but never listened yet. is it superior to loveless in any way? or is it just the same thing but less polished?
>>
Lovesliescrushing - bloweyelashwish and Xuvetyn
Astrobrite - Crush, Pinkshinyultrablast, and All the Stars Will Fall
Glifted - Under and In
Have a Nice Life - Deathconsciousness

Why I've been listening to lately, anyways

Vaadat Charigim - The World Is Well Lost

Check out a Place to Bury Strangers as this chart points out. Noisy shoegaze with some post-punk mixed in as well. LSD and the Search For God is also really good, very similar style to Loveless

op here,
i absolutely adore treasure, but H&LV was underwhelming to me. however, neither of them have the loveless-esque dreamy but noisy feeling to them. out of everything in that chart, perfect perscription and psychocandy are probably closest to what i want
>>
>>51435299
I don't know how to deal with people that think Treasure is better than Heaven or Las Vegas.

This album - considered the seminal japanese shoegaze album
(tho i'd say there are enough garage/punk/surf rock elements to make it more than a mbv knock-off)

As someone whose first CT album was HOLV, I would absolutely prefer Treasure if I didn't find its production to be so sickeningly slick. It still has a really good wintry vibe though; Lorelei is basically Christmas in dream pop form. HOLV to me feels like the definitive entry point to the band's discography - probably their most polished and well-rounded effort, but lacks the more single-minded ambitions of their earlier stuff. Like if you really enjoy wintry atmospheres then Victorialand and Treasure are definitely more recommendable listens than HOLV, or how I'd sooner recommend Garlands to someone who like Pornography-esque post punk. HOLV is strong in its own way, but aside from the slightly more focused, cohesive lyrics (a weird thing to say about CT in the first place) it doesn't really have much of a pop-out element to it. It's just really good music, as is the rest of their discography.

Non-new-shoegazefag question:
Where can I find more material like Lovesliescrushing and Jefre Cantu-Ledesma? Super dense, heavy stuff like that.

>>
>>51436590
yeah I've seen quite a bit, the smaller/darker the venue the better. Always wear earplugs (get etymotics), they actually enhance the experience. lsd was really awesome live
>>
>>51436735
I've seen MBV once and that's it.

I also wear earplugs, went to a Stiff Little Fingers gig last year and have had permanent tinnitus ever since, small venue large volume, wasn't even all that good.

not too much after their single they released, sounded like stale shoegaze made by anyone.
I hope they continue with their sound/approach they were going for instead of becoming even more generic
>>
>>51434976
Boring as fuck. Whirr are a lot better. Death of Lovers is pretty neat though.

>>51435264
>tfw I think Head Over Heels is by far the best thing CT have done.

Some stuff I can recommend:

>Ceremony - Disappear
I find it better than Rocket Fire and Distance, personally. I love that sinister new wave sound buried under heaps of feedback and noise that got axed with sebsequent releases. It still doesn't reach the brilliance of Synthstatic but it's close sometimes. Check out their self-titled as well, Our Last Goodbye is a killer shoegaze song.

>You Walk Through Walls - S/T
Cool shoegaze from members of Air Formation. They released that solid first album this year.

>Soundpool - Mirrors in Your Eyes
If you like disco beats in your shoegaze you must listen to this. I found Dichotomis & Dreamland boring as hell though.
