I fucking hate zipper sounds.
I also hate clattering change and people hitting forks and spoons against their teeth.
wind rushing/whistling around a house with thin siding
>non-musical sounds
The sound of wind through a large, leafy tree.
The various low humming sounds you might hear in public buildings when they're silent except for that sound
>>51244234
>people hitting forks and spoons against their teeth.
That's like nails on a chalkboard, god damn.
Also the sound of a fork or spoon scraping against a bowl.
Cicadas.
heavy downpouring rain
steam trains
Cars passing by as background noise
Rain
there's one that's more of a lot of sounds for me
just sitting in a crowded restaurant, a person can take in so much if they just listen
like the percusiveness of utensils, plates, and glasses acting against the droning of conversations all around them
it's comfy as fuck
Although I'm a pretty outdorrsy/nature sorta guy I tend to really like the sound of heavy machinery. Helichoppers, trains, shit like that. Also water scares me (well, ocean kinda water) so the sound of large boats and the weird surreal nature of sound underwater really plucks my goose.
And stuff like this - I expeditioned and camped several times over the summer trying to capture this. And then in one week I got like 3 amazing recordings. Link related:

Dripping faucets
Rain on glass
Running streams
The wind blowing cattails in a mulberry-coloured plain drenched in the evanescent hue of a sunset
Footsteps crunching on fallen leaves after a light rain
My father beating my mother
The static from the TV of the apartment next door
The silence of a night interrupted by the swish of cars in the distance
A slamming of a car door after my neighbors finish a night of drinking and the girlfriend leaving in a huff after catching her boyfriend sleeping with another woman, thus leading to the eventual crumbling of their relationship and her consequent relationships thereafter
Blowing into a bottle to make it whistle (is that musical?)

>>51244169
>Knocking on a Door
I fucking hate this so much. Maybe it's because I grew up to be a hyperactive NEET but every time my mother did that I felt fucking dead inside.
>>51245629
I like it because of unsettling it is.
>>51244340
I've made a song that mixes these sounds in with background smooth jazz

these are nice
I enjoy the sound of subway trains, idle chatter, crunching leaves, rain falling in metal containers, the hum and rattle of various electronics
I've always been drawn to foghorns for some reason
>>51246602
I got to hear the Queen Mary II fog horn in Sydney Harbour once. Apparently it can be heard for like 50km+ or some shit. It was ridiculous. First of all the thing is so big it's a like a floating city. My apt was about 2-3km away from the harbour and the horn was loud as fuck and echoed for like 10 seconds.
I wish I had recorded it ;_;
>>51244132
In the past several months, I have come to appreciated the sound of machinery greatly. The sound of air conditioner hum is one of the most relaxing sounds in the world. In addition, I recently awoke to the sound of a jackhammer ringing out in a courtyard and thought that it was the most angelic sounds I had ever heard.
>>51246680

>>51244169
I fucking hate the sound of knocking
>>51245629
Get over here bro. I don't like people visiting, so when i heard a knock growing up it'd make me feel nervous and uncomfortable. My mum said i'm weird for it.
>>51244132

>two cycle
Is that the british term for two stroke? Never heard that before. Also, I love the sound of a two stroke, so much more purposeful than a four.
>>51247324
those are some pretty generic choices tho m8.
I like when birds and crickets are out at night making noise and each bird/cricket is in there own groove while producing noise. The colliding grooves are really interesting and I really want to incorporate the same principal in my music.
>>51248099
this track always reminds me of bugs and nature at night tbh
