>>
>>50320013
not if you play them all at once
>>
Take solace in knowing it's probably all just shit indie rock you'll forget about completely in a couple years
>>
>>50320013
why don't you just change your life yourself?

:^)

I have like 1000 movies that I'll never get through

Watch Godard's Une femme est une femme.

This is why I don't usually dl more than a few albums at a time.

I'm a comedy pleb. Last I remember is Wilder's Some Like it Hot, the Monroe vehicle.
>>
>>50320603
i give up
if i wanted pretentious boring cult bullshit i'd just read any imdb list seeing as they are all the same

i bet you would rec crap like Nymphomaniac over good movies like After Earth
>>
>>50320659
what? one flew over the cuckoo's nest is super popular and accessible
>>
>>50320659
This is the whole "Ariana Grande's new album is just as valid/good as some classic 90s album" argument rehashed on /mu/ every day. Nobody is saying contemporary or pop music is bad, but dismissing long time classic and genre-niche/cult classics is kinda dumb too.
>>

>tfw it is literally impossible to be educated on anything in real depth until your 50s

I've been watching a movie a day for the past couple of years and I'm still a pleb.
>>
>>50320727
I'll bite you one further. This is an actual argument people will have on /tv/ or whatever film discussion board. What's the difference for me between some anonymous guy making the point, and some anonymous guy pretending to make the point? Should any contentious argument be ignored outright? I never really understand the troll-meta in these cases.

I love movies and I find it hard to watch more than maybe 2 a day. It's too much to digest.

Don't overindulge.
>>
>>50320907
well I will some day obviously, I have a good salary and am putting away a sizable chunk of it for retirement. But I also more importantly mean doing something that's not a 9-5 would be nice too. Like app development, or selling art or idk even subsiding off my spouse

I've heard Tokyo Story is one of the greatest films ever made but I haven't seen it

The Pianist is great
>>
>>50322121
Rushmore may not be his best but it's almost his least stylized (haven't seen Bottle Rockets or w/e yet) so I can see the appeal in that sense. A bit less love/hate than his later works.
>>
>>50322263
Not that guy but Tokyo Story is my favorite movie of all time. It might be a little slow for some people.

Have you seen Kurosawa's Ikiru? You'd probably like it.

Suffers from the same "pacing issue" (just a cultural perspective on story telling imo; Jap lit is similar—see Yasunari Kawabata) as Toyko Story, and also very beautiful and touching in its way.
>>
>>50320831
I think I've seen one, I have the same problem. Also I generally just lose interest in the plot or characters to sit through the whole thing, television I can do, but I mostly just watch shows where people fix cars.
>>
>start getting into music
>make a list of every album I hear about on the internet that I want to come back to
>this sure is helpful
>do the same thing for movies, books, and anime
>spend more time looking through the lists for things to watch/listen to/read than actually doing anything
>all the lists still long as shit
>new stuff comes out all the time
>I will die a master of nothing
>>
>>50320013
Mine too, I chip away at least 3-4 albums a day though, eventually I might get it, but a more likely case is I'll get a job and my rate of consumption will go down.

It gets harder and harder for me to get through my backlog cause I'll hear something I like and then I'll regularly come back to it, or at least think about it and it impedes my ability to enjoy anything else.
Also I spend so much time looking at the album covers and titles that I never make an actual choice, like looking at my Steam library or any other library/archive.
What makes it impossible is that I download everything from every sharethread cause i'm all about making a lasting archive. Maybe I'm not about a sound or genre, but I'll download and keep it forever anyway. I might be into it later on and completely change my view, or more importantly, somebody else might be into it and I can help them out
>>
>>50320968
>Jacobs Ladder
>Blue Velvet
ma nigga
>>
>>50320052
I basically only listen to really acclaimed and pre 1990 recordings. There's tons of more popular bands that you probably haven't even explored yet that have some great music that will stick with you longer than a month
>>
>>50322804
i have a lot of nostalgia with Jacob's Ladder, me and my (Then) best friend and my current best friend (when I first met him) rented it from Blockbuster one night, and it wigged us the fuck out. In an odd way, that kind of solidified our relationship. He's been my best friend/drummer since 7th grade.

also had my first cigarette that night.
