I want some in the style of those old soviet war era bootleg LPs from Russia where they had to use old x-ray sheets instead of vinyl and you're listening to music on a scan of someone else's skeleton.
>>
At War With Tlhe Mystics is one light blue lp and one orange lp, both opaque.
A silly album to have on vinyl I know, but muh colors.

I don't see why it looking like spinart or a bowling ball is bad as long as it doesn't affect sound quality like a picture disc.

it looks really cool when it's spinning. the worst colored wax i've ever had was a misfits live album someone gave me a while ago for a gift, it's on shitbrown wax.

It's not even vinyl. And it's not graphic, as something that's graphic is visual art, and this was just a utilitarian scan used for medical purposes.

I suppose someone theoretically COULD, but that's not what actually happened with the LPs we are discussing and you said were graphic vinyl. They didn't decide to put x-ray images onto stuff because they looked cool, they took the freaking x-ray sheets and made records out of them because they had nothing else. What about this aren't you getting? Are you just still arguing because you're compelled to?

How does colored vinyl affect sound quality?
>>
>>50186031
the colour of the vinyl is like the least important factor in sound quality tho
that copy of Pygmalion >>50185854
sounds way better than their other two albums Ive got on black, its just a better pressing
>>50186064
coloured has slightly higher surface noise
>>

Nice baseless assumption but Europe's largest pressing plant says it does:

>Note: Although our colored vinyl has a very high quality standard, audio pressed on non-black vinyl is more susceptible to higher noise levels and/or clicks in the lead-in and lead-out grooves or on quiet parts of the recording.

http://www.recordindustry.com/vinyl/
>>
>>50186095
because the carbon black used to dye vinyl black also acts as a lubricant reducing friction at the stylus
>>
>>50186152
But why is it more susceptible?
>>
>>50186169
Imperfections in the dye
>>
>>50186168
Thank you. Why does the carbon black have this property and not whatever dye is used for other colors of vinyl?

>>50186193
carbon is be slippery, its just a property of the substance. graphite is used as a lubricant in some applications. I guess the other dyes they use just dont have the same properties.
apparently different colours have different levels of surface noise, I saw a chart from a record pressing company which sets them out, black is the quietest, white is the noisiest of the solid colours and I think transparent is noisier still, if I remember right.
but like I said, the overall quality of the production, mastering and pressing is much more important, those two
>>50185854
>>50185730
are some of the best sounding records I have
>>
>>50185880
You could make that statement, but that doesn't make it graphic.

>>50185984
don't be silly
>>
>>50186350
So, you made that statement about the x-rays, and now you're using the logic that shut you down as a defense? I take it you have finally accepted being patently wrong and are adopting the correct stance to keep yourself from being too heavily browbeaten?

You get that the only reason he said black could be graphic was to point out the flaw in your reasoning in >>50185528
right?
>>
colour vinyl is cool but it feels like there are more colour vinyll than black vinyll nowadays
>>
>>50186673
>Graphic - of or relating to visual art, especially involving drawing, engraving, or lettering.

The record used the medium of an actual x-ray film in order to press their record. The film includes the skull, making it a graphic of the record. I don't see how this is different as if they decide to print a record on let say newspaper, it's still a graphic. There is still a visual in it, and the visual is the skull.

These Chelsea Wolfe ones are pretty cool. You can't see the Unkown Rooms too well due to the lighting, but it has black swirls going through it.

>>50186817
Visual ART. As in something manufactured by an artist to be visual art. Are you illiterate? Probably, because you just argued against your own point a minute ago to a guy you didn't understand was just making a point about what your logic would imply out of the base instinct to keep being defensive.

Please, fall back on your "oh, but someone could just say it's visual art" argument despite the fact that no one did so someone can point out that if that's the case you could say the same about black vinyl, then you can change your mind again, and we can keep this merry-go-round of idocy spinning.
>>
>>50187028
Point I want to make is that, art is subjective, and there is still a graphic on the record, and the graphic is the skull. Some people would say "neat, they decided to put an x-ray of a person on their record instead of using regular vinyl" and others would say "they couldn't find anything so they just printed it on x-ray film". One views it as art, other views it as just a record on an other medium. If I wear to wear a shirt with a film on it, is it still considered a graphic t-shirt? Yes it is. If I were to wear a shirt that is black is it considered a graphic t-shirt? No. Graphic doesn't only apply to art, but applies to the objects it is applied to.
