>>48170590

check out Childish Gambino, Because the internet is up your alley. You might also like Kendrick Lamar's album Good Kid Maad City.
>Death Grips
Lots of people on here like Clipping and Dalek. Not sure what else in this vein.

But ultimately you should be listening to everything on the /mu/ essentials chart. Lots of people shit on it but it is a great place to start from developing your taste. A lot of it is probably challenging if you've never listened to anything but top 40 (Soundtracks for the Blind comes to mind) but you'll find a ton of stuff and listen to everything eventually.

Their second and third album are mostly electronic stuff, Id say Intimacy is as good as Silent Alarm. Didnt like AWITC, it had nice singles, but Intimacy is more... Ehm, more emotional.

And Made In the Dark is a bit post-punky Hot Chip while In Our Heads sounds like old disco! Id recommend both if you can, but not that necessary.

Yet you're resorting to the "huehue it's summer" meme, so you can avoid confronting people who hold a different opinion than yours.

I have difficulty evaluating favorites from an all-time perspective, so instead have 'for this week' instead.

Stereolab - Dots and Loops
Sweet Trip - Velocity Design Comfort
Neurosis - Souls at Zero

Oh! Inverted World - The Shins
Fashion Nugget - Cake
All Hail Bright Futures - And So I Watch You From Afar
>>
>>48171784
but really anon...there's no way linkin park was influenced by at the drive in. none of their music sounds alike at all.
>>
>>48171797
oh I love dots and loops. Lots of "easy listening" music kind of sounds like that album, except that one has a little twist. I'm not sure if you've listened to TNT by Tortoise but that might be something you like due to the jazz influences. but honestly, I haven't heard much else like that album
>>
>>48169867
Holy shit dude thanks for showing me this.
>>
>>48171844
Hey dude, stop being so rude, you sound like from third world
>>
>>48171901
Its okay, I knew youd like it till you mentioned Frengers.
>>

>you sound like from third world
I really don't know what to say. I'm not even being that rude compared to most of the people on this webzone. I'm honestly asking why you think that

Runaway by LP and Pattern Against User by ATDI. Just the first two that came into my mind.
They could have been written by the same person the same day.
>>
>>48171892

I'm not sure if I'm liking TNT, but it's quite nice.

Thanks homie
>>
>>48172005
If you like the female vocalist on Dots and Loops I've been listening to this album from Macedonia, Yammat - Plan B. It's on what.cd. I'd recommend it.

>>48172004
weird. why is linkin park so shitty compared to at the drive in?
>>
>>48172040
They are both shitty bands for whiny and angsty teens. You guys think ATDI is better just because some music critics say that, but it isn't true at all. If you'd just try to listen to both of them with an open mind you'd realize how similar they are.
>>
>>48172040
because they are trying to be more commercially acceptable than ATDI was, also, within the type of music they make Linkin Park isn't that bad.
>>
>>48172107
I didn't say ATDI wasn't shitty, but they are much better than Linkin Park

>>48172145
it's all so bad though
>>
The Books - The Lemon of Pink
Joanna Newsom - Ys
Charles Mingus - The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

I've essentially raped the canon. Listened to all of it, those are my top 3. Give me more obscure shit please.
>>
>>48172107
0/10
also, sounds like you would have to be doing the opposite of listening to them with an open mind to come to that conclusion
>>
>>48172169

>>
>>48172175
Vivaldis Four Seasons
>>
>>48168182
Damn that is tough, I will have to narrow down my huge library

Pink Floyd-The Wall (Disc 2 is my favorite out of the two)
Moody Blues-In Search of the Lost Chord
Rolling Stones-Exiled on Main Street
>>
>>48172252
Try Screamadelica by Primal Scream
And Trout Mask Replica
>>
>>48172175
I only know more obscure shit in the jazz canon, so why don't we go off of that?

Have you listened to Archie Shepp's Black Gipsy? That's kind of in the same vein as Mingus.
If you are looking for something a bit more fusion-ey you could try Agora - 2
You could also go for later Coltrane. I'm not sure if you've listened to Ascension, Interstellar Space, or even A Love Supreme.
Sun Ra also has a fairly extensive discography.
>>48172252
>The Wall
Well you could go through Pink Floyd's discography if you haven't already. I'll echo Trout Mask Replica. If you want something jazzier, you could head to Miles Davis - Bitches Brew if you haven't really headed down that path yet.
>>
>>48172208
That's the opposite though. You guys are blinded by the music critic press
>"ATDI is so much better and deep and influencial than LP guise!"
>p4k said it so it must be true

Or by genre autism
>"b-but ATDI is le 2nd wave post-hardcore not le nu-metal"

Not realizing they sound exactly the same
>>
>>48168807
fucking wow
>>
>>48172296
Oooh, I like the first song so far. I love songs with female backing vocals.
>>
Mantronix - Music Madness
Cabaret Voltaire - The Crackdown
S U R F I N G - Deep Fantasy
>>
>>48172336
I love Pink Floyd, so far I have Animals, Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and Wish You Were Here. I also have Amused to Death by solo Roger Waters

Do you recommend albums led by David Gilmore or Syd Barrett
>>
>>48172342
this post is stupid on so many levels...
anyhow, lets stop pointlessly arguing and actually recomend music, jeez
>>
Control System - Ab-Soul
Lorca - Tim Buckley
Apocalypse - Thundercat

Any order
>>
>>48172440
The division bell is worth listening to but it's not particularly good. You could listen to earlier Pink Floyd like Meddle and Umagumma but you might not like those.
>>
>>48172342
>ATDI sound exactly like Linkin Park

Shit bruh, I dunno how someone could say this
>>
>>48172440
Avoid Gilmour at all.
Definitely go for The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. Even though you may not like it at first listen.
>>
Matisyahu - Arise
Nostalgia 77 - Songs for my funeral
Nujabes - Spiritual state
>>
>>48172474

If you don't have it yet, I recommend Scary Monsters and Super Creeps by him. The song Teenage Wildlife is especially good.

>>48170611
>Rush

I'd try out Yes, long songs, progressive rock, and a singer with a high voice. I'd start with their album Close to the Edge, 90215, or Fragile.
>>
AJJ-People Who Eat People are the Luckiest People of All
Beastie Boys-Hello Nasty
Elvis Costello- My Aim is True

*BONUS*
Gogol Bordello, all of it

>>
>>48172502
>>48172491
Thanks

I love a lot of genres that are associated with rock, especially progressive rock. It's rare for me to listen to a album that I didn't like

There was this one time I got a Best of album for Soundgarden.. The only songs I liked on there was Spoonman and Black Hole Sun
>>
>>48172563

I'm really not sure how much of post-rock you've listened to, but I've been recommending up in the thread:
Tortoise's discography
Slowdive - Pygmalion
>>
>>48172689
Huh, I really like Let Me Drown from it.

They have a good drummer.
>>
>>48168807
I hate you.
>>
>>48172790
Lmao OP said top 3 favorite albums, I've listened to a ton of shit. It's not GY!BE's best, but it's my favorite because it was the first "Post-Rock" album I listened to.
>>
Sweet Trip - Velocity : Design : Comfort
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Deerhunter - Halcyon Digest

vaporwave

also I would if you listed some albums.
>>
>>48172879
Asobi Seksu - Citrus
>>
>>48172852
I'm confused...why do you like it if you consider it worse? I guess I think that "better" is subjective and has to do with my personal taste.

>>48172879
Listen to Deerhunter guitarist's side project, Lotus Plaza. Also, I'll keep recommending Pygmalion because its awesome.
>>
Not my all-time favorites, but I've been listening a lot to

Turn On the Bright Lights - Interpol
Humbug - Arctic Monkeys
Hail to the Thief - Radiohead
>>
gypsy and the cat- the late blue
