The Chinese Stars and Melt Banana immediately come to mind but in all honestly you'll be hard pressed to find a band that has such a chaotic but simultaneously vivid sound. I just wish they'd come out with new album.

For real, though. Brainiac's latter two records are GOAT. Hissing Prigs is one of the best synth-punk records.
probably this, although pretty much every Lightning Bolt album, Here Comes the Indian, Beaches and Canyons, and Curses and How to Stop Your Brain in an Accident by Future of the Left all come close.
I also listened to Wrong by NoMeansNo for the first time this week and loved it, I can see it becoming a favourite of all time if I listen to it more.

agreed. My Pain and Sadness and the middle two Future of the Left albums aren't as great as the rest, but they're still good and fun to listen to. Also, NoMeansNo kind of sound like the missing link between Big Black and mclusky.
