Ignore the stupid name, this band is one of the most worthwhile metal releases so far this decade. Don't go in expecting stoner-influenced buttrock akin to Mastodon or Baroness because of the calm acoustic sections, this has the same vitriolic feeling that made the records Eyehategod and Grief created so great. Major difference here is that Trapped Within... uses tasteful, sorrowful leads instead of southern rock grooves. One of the maybe three sludge releases since the end of the 2000s worth mentioning (though, hopefully the reform of both Grief and GREENMACHiNE will change that soon!).

This, next to "Stunt" is their best work by far. Gordon displays some of the bands best vocal work along with a focus on the instrumentation and feel of each track. Some are super happy sounding and other are more mellow but the lyrics and subject of each song on this record are down to earth. This is one of my personal favorite records that I never see on here for some reason
