She was great, at the Grand Galloping Gala they had a 60s music section and halfway through either Miserlou or I Get Around, the camera zoomed into her hula hooping.

Does anyone feel like there was a huge drop-off after S5? I felt really good about the future after the finale, but now it seems more uncertain than ever.
I'm probably just spoiled by 2012, pone is still more active than just about other single children's cartoon show fandom, but it still feels like such a step down.

It's a natural progression of every fandom. You get to a high point when it's new and in the limelight because there's a lot of people who just flit from one thing to the next. Eventually they move on and you end up with a smaller dedicated fanbase that likely won't leave until it's over, and even then they may not.
So the fandom isn't dying, it's just settling into normalcy.

Hey, original anon here. "OP" isn't the right word but it's the closest I suppose. So yeah, as the other anon pointed out attendance does seem thinner (and had a nice counterpoint of the con occupying more space), for me it just comes more down to the vitality of the con itself. BC13 had a ton of unique original panels, most of them literally full to the point of staff turning incoming people away (myself included). BC16 had some amazing panels (mane6 voice panel, art panel held a little while ago, etc) but some just seemed really boring and straight up "u wot lad" (like panels that had barely anything pony-related). And I suppose that's another major thing I'm feeling, is that now it seems that the con is less focused on pony itself and more on what pony has become, like artists at BronyPalooza playing generic fucking ass EDM that has nothing to do with pony. I remember BC13 had the EileyMonty panel, Dr Horrible panel, and people singing super loudly in halls, pinkie pie cosplayers jumping up and down yelling fun, the cosplays were better, and the autismo levels seemed far less (though perhaps that's because I didn't interact with as many people then as now). It just feels like a hollowed carcass of what it once was. BC16 had plenty of great things like VAs, but the state of the fandom itself worries me. Case point about panels: the sobering up panel, and the accessibility at cons panel, to name a couple. Like, excuse me, what? Are we really that low on content and desperate enough to include this shit on the lineup? I mean no offense to people who relate to these fields, but I say keep an MLP con MLP related. Plus a ton of content creators seems scared shitless nowadays of Hasbro's banhammer, as if their legal department is waiting in the shadows to burst out with red capes, cheesy intro lines, and paperwork. Why?

I don't give a shit if we're "dying" and the cons are becoming less vibrant because I'll still try and go to every on until they stop completely. There were some factors that lead to the potential decrease in people this year, and what many people don't seem to realize is that MLP doesn't sit stagnant like most cartoons. Is the show just head in the "wrong" direction and some may have gotten bored of it entirely? Maybe, but it could've gone anywhere and ended up just as worse. Plus like >>27856283 said, there weren't many original panels like there were in 2013.

So bronycon lost attendence this year because of scheduling (near the fourth/other cons) i don't think con attendence is down. But the content is down. A lot of the artists that move from flavor of the month to the next left and a lot of artists need inspiration to keep them going so they move on naturally.
Many of the people left are autists who find acceptance with the weirdos and lifers like us that really enjoyed the trolling and memes but have lives outside this (or don't ) we've been touched by this shit and will stay forever. We need to make more content.
As far as cons, a hierarchy solidified. Yes the content creators are all B listers now but also the con chairs and their favorite guests have calcified. There's a hierarchy there that lacks the dynamism of the early fandom. Now people are afraid to offend or try something new and no one wants to lose power.
Our best days are behind us but the fandumb is still strong. Especially considering it's just from one show.

Well considering that all the plans that we had fell through, I'd say it still turned out fine.
Normally at cons I don't plan parties, leaving that to either the Diamond Cunts Aussie group, or Chelis - since they have more expertise in that field.
For those not there, what essentially happened is the conference room we were trying to get was booked put. In fact, it seemed all of them were.
So we wound up taking over, without planning, a conference room over at the Marriott hotel and brought whatever we could bring along. Hint hint.
Was it a shitty situation? Yes. But I think we made good of it, and had a good time regardless.
Having said that, if any of you are going to Nightmare Nights Dallas this October, the Diamond Cunts have a 4k budget for booze and a bunch of other shit, much better than what we had here.
I should also mention the same goes for Pacific Ponycon, and BABSCON.

They brought the booze after the pizza and more people came later on, we put /mlp/ soccer games on the screen and random vids. Jaxonian put his video of fapplebloom on there. Him and Harryclopper drawing requests. Someone got tracer riding a horsecock dildo while another got lyra x twilight. I got zebra colt and changeling drone comparing each other. We played cards of humanity in the back. Some faggot might of called security on us, but they were chill and told us that the booze had to be finished by 2am. I got the chance to see the awesome rarifag. Only downside was some baseball fag crashing the party. All in all, for how shitty it started, we turned it into a pretty good party.

i realize this, but i work for the convention center and not for comic con. i see conventions all the time there that are ~7500 people, they can rent out a very minor ammount, we've got these huge walls we use to cut out entire parts of the con center, and even then you can use the south side, which is the original convention center, which is even cheaper.

BABS fell by around 400 attendees, if I'm recalling correctly. It didn't help that they were up against a local comics, cartoons, and anime convention, Kraken Con, that's about the same size.
BronyCon's issue is they're a destination con. Bronies had to make the pilgrimage once to say they've been. With the establishment of quality pony conventions closer to most fans, that are arguably more fun with the same/additional trappings, there isn't many reasons for people outside the NE to make the trek to BronyCon.
