Kinda had a head canon that her and the other mane 5 became famous like the other mane 6 in Euestria, but on Earth due to their special, world saving powers and became famous enough to a point where companies make memorabilia of them and Sunny just decided to buy a cup based off of her skirt.

Because kids these days don't care about sci-fi. Ever notice how all the future themed shows have technology that is so advanced it rivals magic? Because magic is all kids are willing to understand nowadays. It would be a suicide mission to make a legitimate sci-fi children's show.
There is room for it.
Assuming magic in the human world is uncontrollable and unpredictable, a scientific countermeasure could become an element of the universe.
