I wanted to experiment with a different, more accessible method of polling /mlp/ for their favorite episodes, so I’m going to try this out till the end of this mid season hiatus on the 30th and see what we get from it.
I’ll make a bunch of graphs and the data available at the end as usual as well.

You can vote on this as many or few times as you’d like and it will all count:
http://www.allourideas.org/4chanmlpepisodesurvey/

If you need to look up an episode or stream it then these may help:
http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Episodes
http://yp1.pony.pp.ua/episodes.php
http://xxnightmaremoonxx.de/vweb/?page_id=79&page=2

Feel free to talk about anything involving the show or movies as well while we wait for data to come in.

I'm mostly curious to see if this will look anything different than this if it were made more accessible than the crazy long lists that had to be made for it before.

The point of this one is that you can do as many or as little votes as you'd like and they all count. It goes on till you want to stop.
Maybe I should've said that in the OP...

I suppose the lack of Anons posting lists makes this method a lot more difficult now that I think about it. Can't really shitpost and meme other lists either, which hurts activity.
I'll try to keep this alive, but it seems like it'll be less than the method with the sorter provided.

For those of you who did the other surveys with the sorter that made a list. Is it any easier to go through this website at least? Maybe I can use both to maximize accessibility if that's the case.
>>
>>27804790
I didn't know that you can keep choosing indefinitely so I'll post my list soon.

As for whether or not it's better than the previous sorter I liked the previous one because it had a back button because it's alot easier (at least on mobile) to make a mistake. I also didn't see something that would save your progress. I also like how it would show your progress in percentage ro how close you were being done while it's harder to gauge with this new one.
>>
>>27804835
Well, this one doesn't really end. It's based on letting you pick as many as you want and stopping. Also it doesn't make a list.
I'll stress that this is experimental, even though I'll still make neat looking charts from this to compare to what I got pre-S6, because I really do like the lists and other data I can get from a thread.

I'll bump this one more time before I get some sleep. If it's not around this morning I'll probably remake it sometime in the afternoon.
>>
I'm not liking the new system as much. Since it's not making a list, I feel it's ranking are not going to be as accurate. I've been going for awhile, and I know I have not seen Return of Harmony appear once but Made in Manehatten feels like it's in every other vote. It just feels like I'm voting between the same few dozen episodes while the rest rarely appear and I feel like I'd have more incentive to keep going if there was an actual end.

I don't like that it doesn't make a list either, but it does give a lot of other data that I think is interesting. Like response time and what won against what. Again, this is an experiment. I still feel like the sorter will be better. Especially with how dead this thread is without the list bumps/discussion.
>>
In a way it's not going to be completely accurate because of the way a pair may match up. For example, I consider Equestria's Most Wanted to be filler, watchable but dull. But I'll vote for it over Princess Spike if the two get listed together.

I think it takes that into account looking at the vote counts per item versus the score it gives each one in these graphs. Lesson Zero and Maud Pie have the highest amounts of votes, but Amending Fences and A Hearth's Warming Tale still win out against the two of those in score so far since they loss less times. I'd bet the inverse is true for the mediocre, but watchable if it wins against the worst of the worst and nothing else.

I feel like if the voting doesn't actually stop someone autistic enough and with enough free time can just sit here upboating their favorite episodes to rig the outcome.

It uses some sort of system to keep pumping out choices, hence the doing it as little or much as you want in the OP that could've been clarified better now that I think of it, and it does give a map showing who voted how many times. There are indeed a few Anons who went at it for a while. Those 3 big blips there for example are up 51% of the vote.
Did I mention this was experimental? I saw that the pony subreddit had used it when someone pointed it out during the post S5 survey threads and I thought I'd see how it would work here. So far I'm thinking it's not going as well as the sorter with the lists would've.
>>
>>27812438
Yeah despite the complexity of the last method I appreciated the tangible count of how many were sorted and how many were left. Also limiting votes to when everything has been sorted.

Now I'm not sure when I should stop, if I'm giving enough data, or if somebody else is putting in exponentially more than everybody else that ours would just be a fraction of a change to the statistics.
>>
>>27812476
The idea that I liked was that everything counted no matter if you have an hour to spare or 5 minutes. I was thinking that would mean more Anons trying to contribute, but the small amount of Anons doing a ton of the voting (those 3 big blips were 600-700 votes each) and the lack of built in list bumps/discussion making the thread more visible kill that.

Hey OP, I only see a link to the episode question, am I missing where you're asking questions about writers and seasons?
>>
>>27818418
Sorry about that. I only realized after making the thread and seeing other Anons ask that I should've said it kept going for as long as you wanted to vote for.

>>27818825
I'm averaging each writer's episodes scores and each season's episodes scores to make those graphs. There's no actual question for those.
>>
>>27818943
ah, I gotcha. thanks for the clarification.

A bunch of these are quite different then when I did this last time after S5 here >>27802470. I'm wondering if it's just a different crowd, the polling method is making a difference, a few opinions are being really over represented (see pic related), or if those episodes up there now have really gone up that much in popularity.
>>
>>27815708
>The head writer of the show
>All the way down there at the bottom of the chart

This does not bode well for the series as a whole...

>>27817286
One thing about S6 though is that its operating under a handicap in that only half of its episodes have aired, and more episodes = more votes.
>>
>>27818996
>more episodes = more votes.
It's an average, not a sum. A season with fewer episodes, but of better quality, would be higher than a season of poorer episodes.
>>
>>27818991
well, there's only 71 people who've voted on this, right?
That's a pretty small number IMO, so it seems more that you probably got the attention of different people in mid S5 than you were able to get here, and due to the very small sample size of people, the results are apt to vary wildly.

maybe try and advertise a link on Other sites, like derpiboru, mlpforums and Equestria daily to get a larger sample size?
>>
>>27819094
The sample I want is /mlp/. Advertising it elsewhere defeats that purpose.
The experiment here is using this site instead of the sorter that makes lists. I'm finding the differences are quite interesting.
>>
>>27802446
That's really probably a better idea than the huge lists we had to compile for the other charts. It took forever to get to the end. I'm the anon who's been hosting the file for the last times we did this survey and even I agree that it was way too complicated.
>>
>>27819107
huh. Maybe try plugging it every so often in the nightly generals then?
>>
>>27819146
I really don't want to intrude on anyone else's turf. I've got my nose stuck in a bunch of generals and I still visit random threads a bunch too. I don't thing I'm tripping any common filters that Anons have around here, so I think over the next few weeks this will do okay enough.
Thanks for the concern though.

A lot of people here seem to have no appreciation at all for AB. Spikefags sometimes complain that people are unfair to their favorite character, but at least they give his episodes a fair shot and have actual reasons to hate them when they do.

No matter what happens in an AB episode, where everyone's normally likable and in-character and there's a good lesson, it'll be lumped with the rest of them at the bottom, just because it's her. It's a damn shame that these people are reluctant to even try to discuss her episodes, dismissing them with "it's boring", but there's no use trying to disagree with the census.
